bendigo:

...just be careful ordering accessories as they may not be in stock and have to be backordered... I was sent the phone but no screen protector and ended up cancelling the screen protector...

Ahh, good point. Still, if they say it's in stock, it should be in stock right?

How does paying GST at customs work? I've never done it before.

Well gutys who where wondering about the NextG model ... works really well on telecom XT..

umm..haven't actually made a call with it yet though lol.

mms works,  txts work, data is a go, getting the below results:

Xtremelabs Speedtest results,

AUS2
Rooted nextG desire running on the XT network here in NZ
Max Download Speed: 1995.3
Max Upload Speed : 202.1"

So yep was able to happly root it via these instructions, so easy now,  once you have a goldcard made ..it's two bat files you click on and ..done.

http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/307365/04-may-r4-htc-desire-rooting-guide-now-for-windows-mac-linux/

just make sure you don;'t download or apply the telsra fix for gps before rooting, some people having trouble rooting after doing so.

Mate thats great. You are gunna love it! You have the hottest mobile in Timaru. Make sure your first app is Sim Checker or an equivalent so that if some jealous bugger flogs it, you have a chance of tracking them down.

Also dont forget to come over to the Tips and tricks thread now to learn how to set it up etc.

Sooooo tempted to place my order, only thing that is stopping me is the accessories, don't want to get charged shipping twice.

Down to $919 at Expert Infotech. Seems to drop every week. Mind you Clove's price does too thanks to the exchange rate.

I couldn't get a straight answer out of them on the microSD card question.  All I got was "product comes with manufacturer package contain.  So if HTC provides as a package contain then it will have in it."

Given the positive experience everyone here has had with Clove, it would be silly of me not to buy from them.

It's still a lot of money though...

I'm waiting on a back order of accessories myself. Clove have said the back ordered items will be shipped by Royal Mail at their expense once the items are in stock.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Hi All,

Have been watching this thread with interest - I'm keen as mustard to get a Desire (ahem - once I get SWMBO's permission), and I've been looking around to see who's cheapest - has anyone purchased from these guys?

http://www.blueflymobile.com/HTC-Desire-Quadband-3G-HSDPA-GPS-Unlocked-Phone

I could get this, landed in Dunedin, for NZ$868.91 - is that about the same as Clove?

NextG version dropped AU$60 since i brought mine:

http://www.mobicity.com.au/htc-desire-nextg.html

loving this phone, note that dispite me rooting it i wasn't able to get gps working untill i reluctantly flashed the official telstra/htc fix rom. so everything working great, i just have to wait a li while this rom is newer than any of the avail rooted ones .. and hence can't be 'downgraded' to one of those older roms. bugger.

but hey at least my charger fits our plugs here without need for an adaptor :D
