normal messaging app to send txts, while in the message hit menu>attach, add a photo or whatever you want to attach, this should upgrade the message to an MMS and send the pxt

be sure your APNs are set up correctly so MMS's can send correctly

lokhor: How many of you guys are hoping to upgrade to the SGS2?

Weeeeeell. . . . . .In a massive stroke of luck, the better half has just started a new job where their sysadmins have blocked gmail. . . . .so suddenly she's very interested in having a smartphone. . . and she really likes the idea of an i-9000 that has a lot of custom themes etc.

It's a terrible situation to find my beloved in, so I've done the honourable thing and offered her my SGS. . . . . which leaves me in need of a new handset.

Goodness gracious, what an awful predicament. I feel for you. If only there was a recently released update to the SGS with dual cores, and twice the RAM, nicer screen and such...

Ah, but a bloke can dream, no?

Let us know if you ever find a solution to your conundrum.

Hmmm. . . . it seems I may have erred in showing her the SGS2 review with hi-res pictures I was reading this morning - she said "OOOH shiny!" and has now decided I should keep my phone and SHE should get the new one???

now is certainly a time to get excited tho, im sure you all have been following the latest from Google I/O 2011

Honeycomb 3.1 released soon, Android 2.3.4 and 3.0 to be combined into a super all-in-one scalable OS to fit any platform, 18month support window for upgrading os's on all new platforms wih buy-in from a ton of major manufacturers including samsung, 20,000song Google Music streaming and caching, GoogleTV now acquiring movies and crossplatform sharing with youtube, official android ADK development kits for devs...

and a white Galaxy Tab 10.1!!! they gave out 5000 tabs to everyone goddamit! how cool is that!

and the next gen of android OS (which i guess is the combining of tablet and phone OS's together) - IceCream Sandwich! YUM!!!

i cant wait to see the day that i have icecream lathered all over my (by then veteran) SGS, and your SGSII's :) and my 8.9 Tab which i am definitely buying!

You missed the bit about the increase in activations from 350,000 per day at the end of March to the current 400,000 as of today. That's 146 million devices a year, assuming no more growth. I think it's now safe to say that Android is passed its "gaining traction" phase and into its "going ballistic" phase.

Amazing.

R2D2

PS: If the current rate of growth continues, then in 12 months, there will be double the number of activations per day - 800,000. Not that I'm speculating the growth rate will continue; it could ease off or it could increase. It was just an interesting mental exercise to see what the potential could be. Laughing

One thing's for sure, the Galaxy is going to sell considerably more in the remainder of this year than the 10 million that Samsung predicted. Surprised  I'm going to bookmark this page and revisit it at I/O 2012.

What? Outrageous! I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

[pssst] Perhaps some judicious temporary handset sabotage may be in order - not that I'd condone such knave trickery of course[/pssst]

just get the SGSII for her, flash Eclair on it, or 1.6, and give it to her. compare against your smooth as silk SGS. she'll be disgusted. swap handsets. flash 3.1. success.

better still, flash lokhor's setup on there, her battery will be dead every 5 hours, that will send anyone screaming for sure ;p ;p ;p

Very exciting times. Hopefully Ice-Cream Sandwich helps the fragmentation problem with one OS ruling them all. Also the guaranteed updates thing sounds good on paper but I ain't holding my breath.

So my partner picked up one of these from China a while ago and being bored decided to have a play.

Its on 2.1 and have finally got my A into G and got a cable and downloaded Kies.

It says there are no updates available.

Does that mean because its an "international" version or just because the newest update 2.3.3? isnt out yet?

Bit confused but really CBF dealing with custom roms and all that research to see whats gonna work and what isnt-too much like having my first gen iPhone again!!
