lokhor: Ok I'm ready to take the Gingerbread plunge. How do I flash the JVH bootloaders?

also I'm thinking of going for Juwe's JVH + DamianGTO Kernel

You can flash GB bootloaders separately I think but it'd be safer and easier to go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901 and download stock JVH with bootloaders, then install CF Root 3.2 with odin then flash Juwe's through CWM. And when you first install it you may get bootloops in which you must flash CF Root 3.2 with Odin again- hopefully Juwe fixed that issue. Take note that JVB stuff isn't compatible with JVH fully(I installed a JVB theme which caused booty loops).

Yeah I figured it out.

I flashed stock JVH with bootloaders using Odin
then flashed CF root kernel using Odin
then flashed Juwe's rom from CWM
then flashed DamianGTO's kernel from Odin

All appears to be running fine, now restoring apps using Titanium backup

Unsure how EXT4 works in DamianGTO's Rom and also disappointed at how fugly text is without Speedmod sharpness/colour enhancements.

There should be and app called "ext4" made by Chainfire installed, or you can find the apk on the CF Root thread

Does Voodoo's GB kernel not have the sharpness fix?  I'm a bit behind the GB curve to be honest. . . . .

I'm using Damian GTO's JVH Kernel as it said it has sharpness fixes. I miss Speedmod sharpness fix, it was perfect.

Yeah it's one of the reasons I haven't gone to GB yet - I just can't be bothered faffing around with a newer but inferior product - once Hardcore has his kernel up to speed (pardon the pun!) I'll make the change.

Or maybe I'll have my SGS2 by then. . . . Tongue out

I know what you mean. Everytime I read or hear about it I want it more and more, even though my SGS is going alright.

Might upgrade in the not so distant future if I can source some funds :)

When did you order your SGS2 nofam, and from where?
I ordered from Unlocked Mobile in the UK. stock should arrive on Monday. Hopefully it ships then. It's coming by royal mail. Haven't heard of anyone else having used ULM this time around, unlike the orders for SGS1.

I hope you have much better luck than I did.

Just be wary if they haven't asked you for proof of identification as that is what they failed to notify me was a requirement.

I haven't yet. . . .I' still waiting on the requisition forms I submitted in triplicate to the Accounting Office for approval. . . .Wink

I just made breakfast in bed for the Chief Financial Officer, so hopefully this will expedite the process.

But I'll probably just order off Clove. . . . .better (proven) comeback if I have to RMA the phone for any reason.

So I'm starting to get a handel on my new toy.
How do I know if I have the latest android etc on my galaxy? I'm wanting to install the LAG FIX but I'm unsure how to go about it.
In my system info it says

Firmware 2.2
Baseband i9000srjp2
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 Root@ses604 #9
Build Froyo.srjp3

is this the latest?

No technically JVH 2.3.3 is the latest however I think JS8 2.2.1 is better

How many of you guys are on Gingerbread btw? I'm thinking of flashing back to JS8 - GB has very few advantages, has worse 3d performance (and some 3d games don't even work) and without Speedmod kernel all of the text and colours look off (halos around the letters)
