Looks pretty good to me.

Really?!

The competing HTC One X is $999 or $0 for $100 a month for two years, so for a phone that's only an extra $50 more you wind up paying an extra $480 over two years.

Warehouse Stationery are offering a pre-order discount of $100 making it $949, and as mentioned above Telecom offered this same discount for the One X, hence why it'll be interesting to see if Vodafone and 2degrees offer anything different.

The HTC phone deal includes 300 mins vs the S3 deal which is 400 mins hence the extra $20 a month. Same deal really, yet you're essentially getting a better phone with the S3, other than the screen.

Then, when you look at the real cost of calls etc vs buying out right, the $0 for the phone looks ok or even good.

Agreed. I will be looking hard at the options.

They are hardly raving about it :)

I wonder how far away the HTC One X in Black is? Anyone have any information? NZTF: If you were giving HTCOneX and GSIII a rating from 10 overall, how would you rate them? I know you have only spent a few hours with the GSIII, but as a first impression?

Yeah, I'm really thinking that this device just doesn't offer enough of a jump forward for me to bother upgrading; yes, it's better in every respect than my SGSII, but not, IMHO, as much of a jump as their was from the I to the II.

Maybe once they drop in price. . . .

After watching more of the reviews I'm looking forward to it.

Also laughing at all the Trolls saying that Siri was first! And that Samsung stole their design. haha

They obviously forgot about:
Vlingo on the Galaxy S, and Samsung Voice on the Galaxy S II!

I have moved across the ditch.  Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

I'm sitting on the fence, had a play with a OneX in a telecom store and it makes the S2 feel old, but Sense drives me as nuts as touchwizz does. I like the idea of a S3 but I don't really want to go there until I have a choice of custom roms available.

I keep coming back to the GNexus as something that offers a bit of a upgrade over the S2 and will suffice me for 6mths by which time the S3 will have come down in price and have seen a bit of developer goodness by then

Hard question, I should probably refuse to answer, because there is no way to give an opinion with any authority based on the time I've had with the S3, and my opinion of the One X is heavily coloured by how many deal-breakers it has for my personal use. For me personally the S3 is VASTLY superior, for those who can live with 25GB of storage, average sound quality and GPS and barely acceptable battery life then the One X starts to look appealing with its great design.

Given that that Samsung's competitors have closed the gap somewhat, do you think that Samsung (and the others) will look to introduce newer iterations of their flagship devices more frequently?

I'd personally like to see the hardware releases aligned more closely with the Android release roadmap.

networkn: not NZTF's expert opinion I know, just my personal experiential observation seeing as I have had the HTC One X since release by Clove UK and having watched near on 50 youtube etc videos and reviews like NZTF's on the S3...this is the sense I'm getting about the differences between the two devices.

Sorry for the car analogy but it works for me as I've owned both..

Compering the two phones is like comparing BMW (HTC One X) and Mercedes (S3)

The BMW is nice, fast, comfortable, stylish with some great features and when you get in it people like looking at you in it and you feel good about that.

The Mercedes on the other hand is quite, fast, solid and has a feeling of being built with quality materials and mechanisms, you don't drive it to impress, you drive it because it is the best and everyone else is playing catch up.

Whelp, pre-ordered mine with Warehouse Stationary just now. First time I've purchased locally in a very long time. Fortunately my local Warehouse Stationary is nearest the national distribution centre, so with luck there shouldn't be any freighting delays.

They said nationally there were only like 8 pre-orders. All Geekzoners?
