389 pages and I still cannot find what is the recommended rom and modem to upgrade my Eclair 2.1 Samsung Galaxy S i9000T on Telecom XT Network. Also where are any download links please?

Can you let us know if you're talking about a vanilla ROM or a recommended mod? Also, you have a choice of Froyo or Gingerbread. If you have a preference, let us know that as well, and we'll help the best we can.

I personally recommend you skip Froyo and go straight to Gingerbread as it's a superior firmware.

Go to the Samfirmware.com site to find an appropriate vanilla ROM, or to XDA Developers and search there for a modded XT compatible ROM. Members of this board post there (as well as Aussies who have i9000Ts) and their comments will help you decide.

Having said that, one of our XT peeps here will suggest a specific ROM I'm sure. It'll be up to you how far you wish to go though.

heard it's nice but also heard a lot of bug reports in JVP 2.3.4 personally

Also just switched from the UGKC1 modem to XXJVO so hopefully see some better results on that

same here, im waiting for a darky modified 2.3.4 before i upgrade - Ficeto's base 2.3.4 is a bit too vanilla at the moment.

and how does XXJVO work on XT? hows the data speed, and GPS lock speed?

Thanks for the reply, yes a vanilla rom would be good as I am stuck on 2.1 and would really like to get gingerbread if possible but I dont want to brick my phone. No updates on kies or OTA available to me.

Looked on samfirmware.com, easy site to get around however it doesn't seem to point me in the right direction for a compatible firmware for TNZ and would I also need to flash a modem file? - sorry for the noob questions.

are you sure you read every page? ive posted tons of help for Telecom XT users in this thread :)

if you dont want to use Kies (ie you dont have an update showing yet) then you have to upgrade manually by flashing a new rom yourself. the ROM you flash makes no difference if youre on XT or vodafone, the only thing that differentiates is the modem you use.

then id say follow this guide to get a stable clean gingerbread 2.3.3 onto your phone.

and remember to re-enter your APNs so your internet access works again.

if its all too much and you cant be bothered reading then i would advise you not to go further, because it takes patience to upgrade properly and you need to take the time to understand what youre doing so you do it safely, there is unfortunately no easy one click process (because thats the Kies process)

Yes, there were reports from a few individuals saying they'd been upgraded to Froyo, so apparently for the fortunate, Kies is working. As far as I'm aware, there have been no 'official' updates to Gingerbread on XT.

I was curious whether anybody here has 2.3.4 with a working "Mobile AP" on their device. Not that I actually have any urgent need for it, but it appears to be missing from 2.3.4. Or they've moved it from where it used to be to someplace extremely obscure.

Any heads-up on this appreciated.

Have just tested it and it's all working fine. I'm on a Telecom XT phone running vanilla 2.3.4 XXJVP And modem UGKC1.

Have a question for others, just wondering if anyone else has noticed the wifi not being as strong on this build?

Yeah its the first thing I noticed. Started off with BUJP5 modem and changed to JV1 modem but it was no better. I'm with 2degrees.

JPY had the best WiFi and GPS I've experienced on the SGS. But I can live with JVP's modem until something better turns up. A couple more weeks on JVP and I'll be heading for a modded version - whatever is the rocket du jour.
