How do you intend to set it up? Perhaps you could prevail upon them to allow you to use Smart Switch (phone to phone, maybe using USB cable) in the store before you depart with the new one.

It do use the cloud sync setup that samsung has which works with most stuff (takes about 60 minutes for it to install everything etc). But I use nova launcher (can restore home screens etc from a backup). It's things like android wear, bluetooth to my speakers, headphones and car. Music downloads, logging in to everything, security app setups, home lights setup etc, secure folder and work setup. The service desk at work is getting sick of me and resetting of my security tokens.

Yes my biggest mistake was not backing up my Apex Launcher settings, although I am using the edge screens with this phone so a bunch of things aren't required on the home screens. Glad I have a completely separate work phone so the IT chaps can worry about that.

Well happy to say i picked up a new phone around 3pm today and just in the middle of restoring everything, so far so good. Does have an update waiting however so will see how it goes over the next few days.

After the 3rd repair.. you should be entitled to a full refund..

I'd pursue a refund and then buy a new one..

Under CGA you are entitled to either a new device or your money back if the original device cannot be repaired.

Update:

All is good, no camera issue at all. Did not want a refund just wanted an s8 without the issue :)

I am happy now until the oneplus 5 comes out lol.

Yes.. but you have to give them a chance to repair it..

telecom have a "lemon clause" I was told.. 3rd repair fail they refund.. not sure how it works for everyone else.

This is obvious when you think about it but they don't really draw your attention to that.

Ok so had the new phone for a few days and everything is great, no camera issue etc.

Did not pickup the any mobile networks in AU however until after I tried to make a call then everything worked. I expect this is more of a spark thing than a s8 thing

If you go into the Sound bit, there is a tab Sound Quality and Effects.

Under that, Adapt Sound --> Personalise Sound then follow the instructions.

It plays test tones at different frequencies in each channel and you tell it whether you can hear them.

It then uses your responses to adjust the eq settings somehow in order to help cater for your specific hearing range.

It works well, but if you change the headphones, you need to do it again because of course no two pairs of headphones reproduce sound the same way. It does not really tell you that, but it's obvious.

I like that manufacturers are including features like this. I know Apple are making a big song and dance about including it in iOS 11. Even the Sennheiser headphones I've just bought have an app to do what you describe. The thing is, I've been using a music app called Poweramp for about 5 years that has all these features and more, so it's hardly revolutionary. I guess the plus side of the OEM version is it will work across all media.

Most consumers will be happy with it being built in to their OS.

Nice to see Apple leading from the back - something they have begun to excel at since the sad loss of SJ.
