Dingbatt: I've been using a music app called Poweramp for about 5 years...
+1 for Poweramp - love it
Poweramp fan since way back also.
I keep waiting for a Poweramp plug in that syncs through to your Spotify library.

After the 3rd repair.. you should be entitled to a full refund..
I'd pursue a refund and then buy a new one..
Under CGA you are entitled to either a new device or your money back if the original device cannot be repaired.
Yes.. but you have to give them a chance to repair it..
telecom have a "lemon clause" I was told.. 3rd repair fail they refund.. not sure how it works for everyone else.
Yeah, I mean, that's literally what I said.
literally.. well.. not quite.. ;)
So my phone is still going great, put a new dbrand skin on it last night :)
My friends s8+ however has shat itself. He purchased it in AU and the screen started to get green lines down the display and other random screen issues once he got back to NZ. He took it back to AU to get it fixed after samsung NZ said no only to be told that there is a crack in the back glass so they won't repair it at all. So he is down about 1300AU.
I told him he should have waited and just purchase it in NZ but he wanted it there and then.

That's exactly the reason I won't be getting another glass-backed phone after my S7. Glass is just so fragile - yes, you have to have glass on the front, but why double your risk of shattering with it on the back as well? Yes, you can protect with a suitable case, but you have to destroy the aesthetics of your beautiful phone by doing so.
I agree - glass seems an odd material from which to make a phone case. Titanium alloy would be a more sensible choice - or even Carbon Fibre.
Has anyone got any comment on call quality from the S8/S8+? I have found that the number of dropped calls, instances of the phone not ringing when called and so on is (observationally) greater than my Sony and certainly the iPhone6 I had before.
Of course these could be network issues not phone issues and I have no way to tell. It's on VF if that is relevant.

Vodafone as well with an S8+. I haven't had any of those issues at all. When I first received it I was surprised at how clear the call quality was. Earpiece is nice and loud as well. I haven't experienced any dropped calls or any of the other issues you've mentioned.
Could just be our location. We are lucky to get 3 bars on the cell signal and 4G has yet to make it as far as Martinborough !
Damager: Might well be. Have you been outside of your usual location to see how the performance is? Time for Voda to get their act together and get 4g there!
No complaints about that from me! 4G would be great. Hopefully before 5G comes...!
I've been in Wellington and it seems fine. It just doesn't seem to do as well as the iPhone 7 my wife has when at home with poorer signal.
Interestingly, phone performance in that sense is one of the things rarely measured in reviews. They'll all tell you how fast it can open 10 apps at once or whatever, but not how well it works at the job of hanging on to cell signals and making calls.
I find the call quality on Spark to be much better than on my S7. But about 1 out of 15-20 SMS fails to send, which is an annoying high rate. I had the same issue with the S7.

Where are you located? I have not had any problems with sms etc. Are you using the spark firmware on the device (purchased from spark)?
Might also pay to pop into spark and get a new sim card.
2degrees finally sent me the preorder sd card 2 months late.
Anyone else refusing to download this latest update that removes the option to have a black background for the nav keys?

I took it a week or so ago on XNZ. There are other advantages liked improved battery life and the phone no longer disconnects from my car head unit after composing an SMS by voice. Also the ability to toggle the nav bar is nice.
