still I can't say the htc is better and an average point and shoot ... or can you?

I don't see the point of htc is better than s4 ... erm ... ok?? but x is as good as point and shoot (which is cheaper) - now we're talking! unfortunately that's about lightyears away until someone can defy the laws of physics of small sensor size!

but that's just my 2c :)

sorry too early in the morn

what I meant was if you're buying a phone for a camera - don't

if you're buying a phone for its other features and the camera happens to be the best in the business, well that's a bonus

heavenlywild: Camera comparisons between the S4 and the HTC One.

The difference is night and day. HTC One's Ultrapixels really shows off here.

Link.

Interesting piece, although the shots should have been resized to be equivalent for a proper comparison either scaling down the S4 or scaling up the One. Doing that the One shots won't be flattered quite as much as they are there. A good showing for the One nevertheless, seen a few good comparisons with it in the last couple of days and its a credible performer. If they get the next generation up into the 5-8mp range I think the results could be quite nice.

I've been planning buying on next iPhone (5S or whatever it will be) for last year or so, but now have major gadget lust for this phone. It looks very VERY cool indeed.

Cheers,
Joseph

@NZTF. Will you be getting both the HTC One +/or SGS4? I value your opinion (No offense to anybody else) and trust what you say. Like a minion following a god, lol.

Very strange, you are the second person to liken me to a God in the last three days. Being a doctor its hard enough to suppress my own involuntary thoughts that I am a God, even without receiving external validation to that effect. I will try and keep this from going to my head, but its not easy.

(all of which is to say thank you, I'm quite sure I don't deserve that kind of praise though)

I will be getting both the HTC One and the SGS4, so will definitely be able to give a good comparison of the two (fortunately their releases are not too close together, so I will have a few weeks using the HTC One as my daily driver before the S4 arrives).

Depending on the timing of release, I've been looking at the feasibility of getting the HTC One Developer Edition.

The main bonus is the 64GB storage (which seems hard to find) for what seems a reasonable price. Also for an unlocked bootloader (although I understand you can unlock European HTC phones at their website anyway).

I'm lost when it comes to the frequencies though. I would use it on the Vodafone network. Does anyone know if the below is a compatible list with Vodafone NZ?

HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)

From what I understand, the GSM would be okay (900 and 1800 MHz).
But the HSPA wouldn't work without 1800Mhz?
And it wouldn't work on Vodafone LTE, which I think is 1800Mhz?
(I'm not sure what the AWS in the spec sheet represents. 1700?)

It looks like like it's not really compatible with NZ frequencies. Am I right?

Not sure if that is the new One. It says One XT and has 13mega pixel camera. The One has 4mega pixel Ultrapixel camera. From their specs it looks like its the upgraded One X.

Although it does say dual front speakers and the upgraded HTC One XT doesnt list that.  A little confusing when there is an One XT

checked with a reliable source at Noels. It is HTC one and is the telecom version hence it says XT. They still use XT for telecom phones although telecom doesn't use XT anymore.
