Once tied to your Google account it is like the activation lock on iCloud. You need to remove it from your list of devices in the Google account settings

It may be that you need to give the buyer your Google account details (change your password first) so they can log in and then remove the Google account from the phone end.  Sometimes removing it from the account alone doesn't let the phone know it's removed.  Either that or get them to send it back to you so you can do it yourself before you return it to them.

Google now make actually completely removing a device impossible. The only option both in a browser on a computer or in your account setting app on your phone is to sign out of the device, which is not the same thing. It may achieve the same thing in allowing someone else to take over the old device, but I'm not sure....

They made it impossible on computers some time ago, but you could (until recently) remove a device on your phone by going to Settings > Accounts and Backup> Accounts > [choose your gmail account] > Google Account > scroll across to security > scroll down to your devices > click on the device you want rid of and there would be a big red remove button at the bottom of the screen which would remove the device from your account completely. Now they've removed that option there too - there is just a dotted side menu that comes up for the device that lists only two options "sign out" or "don't recognise this device" which links you to instructions about someone else having your password. Stupid!! You should be able to remove a device, especially to enable new owners to take full ownership of the devices and find them when they're lost.

Does anyone know anything about why the Note 9 here is still on May 1st Security patch, and no updates this month or last month? I see the S9 series subforum reports a big update in the first week of July. Overseas it seems the Note 9 is on 1st July patch.

Yeah, we are well-and-truly behind. I'm assuming Samsung NZ is the one holding things up, might pay to harass them. Or if you are nearing the end of your warranty, start thinking about DIY.

Speak of the devil...

I swear Samsung has a bot watching each thread; as soon as one of us complains, it seems like the patch arrives a day later haha
