Google shipped a D.O.A N5 to my friend in Aus. Friend sent it to me as a gift and it costs $100 AUD to ship a lithium battery item through international courier cause of the IATA regulations. Google refuses to ship RMA to NZ for any reason and LG won't honor the warranty either. So if you did a private import of Nexus 5 you better hope you have no issues with it because you are completely screwed if you do.

You should not have piad for shipping a lithium battery.

Lithium Ion Batteries - 2013 Regulations from DHL,

Battery contained in equipment -> less than 2 batteries -> no requirements.

Picked up my N5 yesterday as replacement for S2 and am absolutely loving it. I too was concerned about the battery (so considered the G2) but it is way better than the S2 so am very happy. Stock android is a dream, no more touchwiz! And the speed is amazing - I have really noticed how laggy the S2 is in comparison. And I love the new high-res screen!

I would like to get a wireless charger. What is the best buy in NZ? I would like to purchase with a NZ AC plug - as I hate using adapters for overseas kit.

I ordered one from aliexpress and its coming with a NZ plug. came to about $30 with free shipping.

I too was worried about the battery life after seeing a few reviews, im onto my second charge now, just passed the 24hour mark and im at 62%.. my galaxy s3 would be on about 20% at this stage with the same usage and same apps.. Battery life concerns? really?

Thanks for this.

I'm curious as to why most people don't like SMS integrated into hangouts. I think it is great - the ability to have both hangouts and SMS in one place is brilliant - and it seems to work well enough. What's the problem?

Personally - I probably would have put up with it if it had integrated properly with my contacts list. As it is - I do not have most phone numbers entered in +64 format - and this results in the number for incoming txts not being matched to contacts - so I have no idea who they are from. Obviously I can work that out and fix the contacts - but it is not a nice user experience.
Also - I do not use hangouts now - so I do not find the UI intuitive at all for sending txts. Something I would work out over time probably - but as it's broken in my view anyway I won't bother with the learning curve :)

I use hangouts with communicating with my partner. With Chrome add-in, it works well as messages come through to PC if using it, in addition to the phone. We were using Whatsapp, but hangouts has better phone/PC integration, with the benefit of video calling - which works well also. So the ability to bring SMS for my non-hangout friends into the same integrated application is welcome.

Got an email today saying my order from Google Australia to an Aussie address has been canceled as some details could not be verified they had my Auntys phone number so they could of called her if they had any issues with it.

Looks like I will be going with the GS4 then.

Someone else went through this before

Add on GST and shipping and the fact you have an extended warranty with the Consumer Guarantees Act from buying through a NZ retailer etc
