mudguard:

As an update I have got my Flip4 back. It was repaired under warranty. However it was wiped, which was generally expected, but annoying none the less.

I think they replaced twelve parts, but I assume a bunch of it was stuff that was glued in and couldn't be reassembled. Well, I assume it's my phone back. I've got no way of telling unless the IMEI is on the box I guess.

What drives me insane as that I can't find any normal message tones. They seem to be all awful or actually ringtones, not just a short sharp notification. Man this stuff drives me nuts. I've just had it on mute all day and the google assistant doesn't seem to want to work in the car either. I feel we've gone full circle with permissions, that everything is disabled by default. So I seemingly have to go into each thing and tick what I want it to do.

So fingers crossed this screen lasts longer than the first.

You're lucky. My fold4 has been sitting with samsung for 4 weeks now due to "parts shortage". I'm actually just really relieved the approved the warranty claim.

Big thanks to one nz for letting me keep this loan phone in the mean time.

Other concern is once I get it back I'll have no warranty and no insurance left, and the fault I had with warn flex cable will definitely happen again.

So a few months later and my phone has developed this bright spot.
Now Google suggests it's an impact mark, and there is a small mark in the screen protector. I barely fold it anymore after the screen died (see earlier in the thread) however I'd put the phone down to go to sleep, then picked it up an hour later to check the time and there was the bright collection of pixels.

It's still less than two years old so I'll call into Samsung on Friday, however are they just going to say impact (I genuinely have no recollection of hitting or tapping it even accidentally) or is it a potential warranty fix? My worry is if it spreads. Not to mention it's unbelievably annoying. I keep wiping at it thinking it's dust.

In the pic it's about 3-4mm right of the fold.

Looks like you got something trapped inside the phone

If you are in Auckland take it to Samsung CSP and they can assess it under warranty.

Absolute worst case you could claim insurance
