FazerDude:Do you think Google will actually front with a car dock?
The GNex desk and car dock debacle was a complete indictment on Samsung - it was ridiculous how long they took to actually get any into the stores. I do use mine - but to be honest I didn't really think much of the design (of either dock). The car dock was way too hard to get the phone in and out of, didn't have a built in speaker and was ridiculously priced. The desk dock was a cool idea, but a little to difficult to set the phone into in the dark. I also had both docks for my N1 and they were way easier to use - apart from the fact that all the car docks broke near the clip.
So no pogo pins on the N5 - does this mean no recognition of what dock it is in - or does NFC somehow handle that?
I'm trying to think of a way to mount my Nexus Wireless Charger on an angle so I can use the N5 as a bedside clock - still got a bit of time before it arrives.
Unsure, I didn't wait around, got my owl car dock charger which works nice, even with the spigen case, haven't tested vs nekkid yet but will and post back results. I've got some nfc stickers and will place one in the dock or as others have suggested use the bluetooth pair as a trigger.
The samsung dock rocked once you made a small mod to it with a knife around where the buttons should be. but it was expensive, and motorola gave me an expensive taste in car docks. They used magnets to identify the charger, i think the gnex one did too as sometimes it hadn't snapped all the way in and would flick across only after it was fully in even if already charging.
I had the atrix previous to the gnex, sold it just after the no 4.0 announcement....
you could always get a qi charger that sits up at an angle have seen a few.
