HMD started rollout of Aug security update for 7plus just week ago. You'll get it soon or later. Or you can sideload it, I saw a direct download link on xda.

It is interesting that we're almost to the end of the year and they haven't updated their flagship phone yet - are HMD going to focus on the mid to low end and concede the high end to Samsung, Google and Apple?

Does anyone know if/when the Nokia 6.1 Plus is coming to NZ?

For us Nokia owners

https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/security-updates

Updated for the August patch. Does seem NZ has missed out on this. Nokia told me to check with my carrier, Vodafone tells me they offer data for downloads but otherwise has no idea what Nokia is talking about.

"Google's Security Patches are released monthly and depend on the hardware in your phone.

As these releases have specific hardware dependencies, we will need to ensure your phone is fully supported before we can test and release to the operator. Once the quality has been assured, the Security Patch will be delivered to your phone. Due to this, the Security Patches are dependent upon your device model, operator and also your location.

As the Security Patches are designed to enhance security, we advise all our customers to install them as soon as convenient. More detailed info on the Security Patches for Nokia smartphones is available here."

I am in France a.t.m. so that may make a difference?

Vodafone call centre will have no clue as this is part of the mobile operator device management/approval. They are not read in on that.

My 6.1 received the August security update on Monday (3rd). I'm on Warehouse Mobile with a Spark sourced 6.1

So it appears to be a Vodafone issue since Spark phones are receiving the update. Any idea on how to get the ball rolling?

Android developer here so having the latest version of Android asap is desirable.

With my 6.1 I got the August patch within an hour of connecting to ALDIMobile (Telstra) network in Australia when I went over three weeks ago. Not sure if it was a coincidence, or whether it is carrier related. I do know I didn't have to do the Carrier Services data wipe bit for it to show up.

Edit: I'm on 2degrees here, but in other months I've tried with a Spark SIM. Now that I've still got an ALDIMobile SIM I've got another option.

Nothing to do with Vodafone at all, they don't range Nokia and have zero involvement with the devices or the OTAs in NZ. Everything to do with Nokia themselves and to a lesser extent Spark who will be certifying the updates for deployment in NZ.

I suspect Nokia have a whitelist of networks they have partnered with, which will naturally include Spark. Nokia/HMD are the ones you want to talk to here, Voda can't help with this.

I wish Nokia would keep this list up to date: https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/security-updates

Then at least I'd know when to start looking for it (i.e. trying different SIMs).

My wife's 7 Plus has apparently had dodgy Bluetooth for quite some time - she'd thought it was that my headphones I'd lent her were dodgy, but when a new pair I bought her yesterday (amazing that I was able to buy a pair of not too bad headphones with active noise cancellation for $114!) reproduced the same problem, disconnecting every few seconds then reconnecting after a little while, I dug a bit deeper.

The issue was the phone defaults to optimising the 'Bluetooth' system app, so placing that on the 'do not optimise' list immediately solved the problem (found the solution here). What a daft default, given the consequences; thought I'd post it here in case others with this model (and maybe other Nokias?) had similar issues with Bluetooth.

I also checked to see if there was a new security update but, nah, the latest available for her phone (standard Spark issue) via the phone update is Jul 18; not quite the speedy process I'd expected!
