JPNZ:
Samsung should just recall ALL note 7's
I thought they did?
JeremyNzl:
I think its getting to the point.
Where they need to offer a full refund (all ready an option ) or a stand in device of similar value/usability, Not a crappy J2 or whatever it is
I.e Note 5 or S7, to hold there suffering customer base over till the Note 7 is stable or Note 8 is released.
Whilst there will be a cost, This is how you keep brand loyalty.
They should look at offering a carrot to keep there suffering customer base
They offered a carrot. I am completely happy with my carrot and my brand loyalty is no less than it was. Samsung make the best Android devices on the market I believe and the note is a fantastic device, though honestly if they withdraw them completely, I am not sure what else I'll use instead. I may get another Note 5 which to be honest, in some ways I prefer due to it's shape.
I don't believe a second recall has been formalized. I believe they are investigating still and I still believe they will find there is a distribution mixup with the Note7's so that some older phones were sent out as replacements by mistake.

Well they did but then started selling "safe" models... Turns out they were not safe at all. Full recall coming in 3-2-1......
This updated from stuff 20 mins ago.
"Samsung has halted sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones and told consumers to stop using them as it investigates reports of more fire damages in replacement devices.
Samsung issued a statement on Tuesday asking all consumers using either an original or recalled Note 7 smartphone to power down and stop using their device.
In New Zealand, Vodafone, 2degrees and Spark earlier halted the replacement of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones until further notice. Samsung's notice to global partners to halt all sales followed an earlier notice to cease issuing replacements. It was not known whether New Zealand partners had yet stopped new sales."

We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.
We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available.
Looks like its official now, arrrg

I wonder what the "remedies available" are. The info from spark is not good saying that they will give an "account credit". I am sure under the CGA they have already had the "put it right" chance and people can now ask for a cash refund.
Update: oh looks like it is a refund from all 3 telco's now
So if we are on a plan
Are we getting the 2 months of payments made for this device back to our accounts?

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE7 UPDATE
Samsung have advised Spark to pause our Galaxy Note 7 replacement programme while they investigate reported incidents in the U.S. We have asked Samsung to provide us with an update on their investigations as a matter of priority and will update you as soon as we learn more.
If you have a new replacement Note7 device, Samsung’s advice is to hold onto your device pending their investigation.
However, if you would like to take action now, you can return either your original or replacement Note7 device to a Spark retail store to either:
- Swap it out for an alternative device, with the difference refunded, or
- Return it a full on-account refund of anything paid for the device and any Note 7 accessories purchased from Spark

Depends what you want to do, I would expect it to be a full refund credited back to your account, if you pay monthly then it would be the monthly payments as a credit.
Hopefully 2Degrees behaves properly
I really applaud Spark on the way they handle things 1st and most cleanly specific to the details
