Good to know, I wasn't too worried, worst case scenario I restore via Nandroid or flash fresh ROM (so hard to brick SGS phones!), but always nice to have some good reports.

Yeah, safe as houses, so long as you follow the usual best practices (wipes caches etc before flashing, and being careful with restoring apps etc).

I really like his minimalist approach, and lack of gaudy theming.

I like the lack of theming as well.

It seems to be running well, Titanium Backup isn't updated to work with the new Market though - couldn't restore my Market links!

If your kernel support OC/UC (as Cognition's does), I'd highly recommend useing SetCPU to Underclock to 200/500/conservative for screenoff - I had 2% drain overnight with 3G sync on for GMail/Facebook/Accuweather etc.

Have set the normal profile to 200/800/Performance too see how that rolls.

New Market App launched by Google.

Download and info below:

Just installed, very nice, a little slower, but worth it.

There was a separate thread on Geekzone yesterday for this.  Agree it's a nice change but noticeably slower. It's still a keeper.

I think too from what I saw, Cognition has the new Vending.apk in the ROM.

He does - the Books app works, but Video doesn't.  Supposedly it doesn't work if it detects SU on the handset; a form of DRM apparently?  A fix is coming though. . . . Wink

Largely irrelevant as unsurprisingly, there's no video's available to us in Oceania anyway.

NZtechfreak: Anyone here on Cognition ROM 1.12? I'm downloading now, looks the most complete of the current 2.3.4 ROMs with the 1.12 update...

Anyone got the 1.10 no-wipe update file laying around they could put on dropbox or something? The original one is 404'd and I've got this thing set up just nicely.

You're right. I was reading an article last night that it's ONLY for the US. Not even Canada.  There were a lot of comments to the post suggesting Google start to recognise users were world-wide and not limited to the US.  This was in reference to having Google Music Beta also only available to the US (but I've got it Wink)

Or to the original site:

http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/rom-base-sgs2-2-3-4-darkyrom2-xxkg1-base.4059/

Pretty sure the XDA topic for this was linked to a few days ago. Plenty of talk of bugs & otherwise in those two forums.

I already did that, when 2.3.4 first arrived. Its fine, but not as good as Cognition.
