old3eyes: I just watched the Telecom's Facebook page Youtube video on the Sensation. It showed a feature called HTC Watch, movies on demand. Bet we don't see that feature down here..

Look two pages back. It is available for NZ.

Thanx.  Now I see it..  But will it be movies on  demand or just trailers??

Regards,

Old3eyes

Hi please forgive me if I sound stupid but Im wondering if the phone works on Australian 3G network since it works in New Zealand by the 850 MHz with 3G 2100 MHz.

I was planning to buy it from telecom (anyone know the unlock fee?) and use it on Australian Networks

Please provide me with an insight into the network issues.

Thanks a bunch

It will work on Telstra 3G. New Zealand operators don't lock their handsets, so there's no unlock fee.

It will be fine on the Telstra NextG network only in Aus. It _may_ work in part on other networks, but don't rely on it.

It may work with limited coverage as those networks use 2100 MHZ plus other bands. This handset is 850/2100 MHz, ideal for Telstra NextG.

In other words, if you buy and it doesn't work with those other operators exactly where you need it, don't blame us.

No, Both Mauricio and and I specified the Telstra NextG(3G) network, which uses the same frequencies and systems as the Telecom XT network.

It will not work properly on any other Aus network.

You obviously havn't been reading the full thread. The Telstra issue was dealth with earlier.

Telstra NextG network operates on 850mhz HSDPA. The phone will work on Vodafone and Optus in some capacity however mainly 2G (GSM) depending on what areas you are in

Telecoms XT network performs beautifully on the HTC Sensation. Getting 6mbps over 3g :-)

It should also work in Ozz on their GSM (2G) networks as well so if you want it just for SMS and talking you should be OK..

extreme888: If you want one to run on the Vodafone GSM network, don't get one of these. You'll be better to get one from Clove... but can't you get them locally anyway?

In most cases, the HTC 850 3G variants are only released via specific carriers eg AT&T, Telstra NextG, Rogers and of course XT.. It's only after a certain period of time depending on the Carrier that these variants can be sold by other retailers. If you see a Sensation being sold now via Clove and Expansys, Ebay etc, it's guaranteed it'll be the main version of the handset which is 900/2100 3G.
