Fizz: Hey has anyone worked out how to set Slide screen 4 on the home screen 2 be the default screen so that its quicker and easier scrolling a few screens left or right rather than scrolling right a good few screens b4 getting 2 the screen u want :p
I've worked out how 2 re-arrange the screens but screen 1 is still the default.
Also with screen 4 as the default its bang smack in the middle of my new wallpapers which is good as not much happening on the ends of these ones lol

Well you could install Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher :-)

Assuming you mean the default TouchWiz launcher, there is a way to do it by editing one of the system config files (might be build.prop but can't guarantee that). So you'll need to root the phone. If you search xda-developers you'll find it.

You can set the default touchwhizz homescreen # using a little mod (i think it's a registry edit), check xda galaxy subforum for details.

Lokhor, I see you made a comment on the Voodoo thread on XDA.
Did you apply Supercurio's lag fix?

What's still a little fuzzy to me (in reading through 20+ pages), if you've already obtained root access (I used the Chain Fire root straight after flashing to JPM), do you have to uninstall that and add the Super user app from the market.

Sometimes I read and it seems people have, and then others will say they applied Voodoo without touching their previous super user access (obtained through CF).

Anyway, if others have applied Voodoo, happy to hear your process too.  Cheers.

thanks for the feedback guys, Finally got around to Rooting my phone, so installed a few apps like TI backup, rom manager and root explorer that required rooting prior 2 install :). Came across floating images app. Must say it is pretty cool. Wish the standard Gallery app was something to that effect.

What the standard Gallery apps needs - desperately - is a way to TELL it what images to display. I reckon half the lag issues with the Galaxy S is contnetion due to the phone trying to find images / vids to show in the gallery every time you touch anything graphical.

The Media Scanning all occurs at boot, or when you modify files in the My Files application. That is not the cause for lag. The RFS filesystem is the reason. Read XDA Developer Forums. Basically Samsung put a proprietary filesystem RFS on top of MoviNand (this is the 8gb/16gb internal sdcard) which is where all of your apps are stored. The MoviNand device already has wear levelling and any filesystem on top of it does not have raw nand access for wear levelling anyway. Since RFS is so slow, replacing it with another Linux filesystem makes sense - hence the Voodoo fix using EXT4 which supports journalling and is a heck of a lot faster. The reason Voodoo requires flashing a new Kernel is that the stock kernel does not have EXT4 support.

Sweet - reasonably stable?  How many apps are you running currently?

I tried to install it this morning and ended up with a big fat FAIL in Odin.  I flashed back to JPM and set up my phone again.

I had JPM with Chain Fire's Root on my phone.  Not sure why it didn't work. I didn't have any Voodoo folder left over from when I was on Eclair.  I'll give it another go but as a lesson learnt I've not paid for Titanium Backup so as not to have to manually do all the reinstalling of apps etc.

I had JP6 running stable for a few days (since Saturday). Last night I installed Voodoo 5 preview for Froyo and it went fine, had the desired effect etc. This morning I installed Superuser and Busybox to take advantage of the root, and after a reboot my phone refused to boot, even after cache wipe and factory reset :-(

Trying to download JP6 and Odin at work now...

I didn't use the Chainfire Root - only the SuperOneClick which seems like a pretty safe root. So far my phone has been incredibly stable and fast with no extra drain on battery. I have 105 User Apps installed according to Titanium Backup. Including System Apps there are 236 applications installed.
