a happy nexus fan here...the device is well suited to my gypsy lifestyle, syncing nicely between my fone-droid(cm 10) & the hp atom(win 7)/usb soundcard/surround sound setup over bluetooth for watching movies etc up on my bed...great too for reading in the low ambient lighting that is the solar powered system output when "out country" in my vardo....aaaaand...it sits nicely in jacket pocket ready to whip out for a quick read in those inevitable waiting for? situations... as well as the usual niceties expected of a connected device...

to root or not to root?

no stranger here to rom upgrades etc, however as i saw in another post i too, am not quite ready to "pull the trigger" on my lil pal just yet for some reason & have looked around for the various benefits however i've not seen any comments about appreciable increase in battery life etc that comes after said process...

has it been good for you?

To answer your question, rooting my S3 has been good. I run lots of root apps including Titanium Backup, and SetCPU.

Some of my apps allow me to save battery, and are root apps (e.g. SetCPU) but the act of rooting alone simply enables application access to other parts of the phone. Rooting alone will not extend battery life or give you additional functionality. Apps with root access may do those things for you.
