Hi.

I am going travelling for a few weeks, and I am thinking I might make use of a second Galaxy S5 battery, but I am also looking for a way to charge it when I don't have it in the phone, needs to be compact and ideally relatively inexpensive. I did also consider taking one of those portable batteries.

Any recommendations?

What you'll be after is the official Samsung Extra Battery Kit for the S5, I believe the model number is EB-KG900BWEGWW. This includes a spare battery as well as an external charging case for said battery that takes micro USB, although it does not include an additional micro USB charger. Here's a link to one.

The charging case has an LED that lights up green when the battery is full. I've used a similar product with another phone in the past (They're included in the box with some high-end Korean market phones), enormously handy things.
