Need to choose a new mobile device for work.  I am strongly considering an S8 after a lifetime of iPhone use, but procrastinating.  The new iPhone 7 or 8 just doesn't do it for me, as much as I like iOS and the security and consistency it provides, the handsets and screens on casual observation pale in comparison to the S8 offering.  Expandable memory and a headphone jack (which I use regularly in different situations) are also dragging me towards the S8.

An iPhone 10 is out of the budget, and not sure I would choose it anyway. Apple are very 'meh' these days (as my kids say).

I have read the other threads on here about changing and they have been very helpful, thanks to those that contributed, some really constructive suggestions and honest feedback, and I now understanding the benefits and pitfalls better.

One question I cannot find an answer to...the rest of my family is heavily invested in iOS devices and everyone else will be using an iPhone or iPad.  A big value with iOS is having the 'find my iPhone' app which we all regularly use.  Is there a way for an iPhone user to track the location of an Android user, and vice versa (providing permissions are given of course)?

My Google-fu reveals both yes and no answers.  I would have thought a browser with appropriate access to the Apple or Google account would have been able to do this but apparently Apple iCloud won't work with any Android browser.  There are a couple of app suggestions but they don't look like anything I would immediately trust.

Any suggestions how this could work?  Can it work?  If I can get over this barrier I think I am there.

My IOS google maps has Location sharing as an option.   I've not played with it, but maybe that's like latitude was.

We (my family) use the Life360 app.

Wife has a iPhone (boo hiss), I've got an Android (#TeamPixel), but it's supported on both.

You can even set it up to notify you when people reach certain locations and you can request an update to find where a person is.  So it's basically a cross platform "find my phone".

Don't know if that helps or just pisses you off, as it's not technically what you asked for and there's nothing more annoying that some muppet jumping in on a thread with an answer that you didn't ask for I'm running out of breath now i'm going to show myself the door.
