Hi

Had a bit of a struggle taking photos with my new Smart V8.... as I rotated from profile to landscape in composing picture I wanted the image got progressively darker until screen showed nothing at all.

Much time wasted, and frustration levels building..

Already making plans to take it in to a tech tomorrow I was thinking that this was the same behaviour as rotating to pieces of polarised glass etc.

So, took off my 'shades.. and problem went away. Only with sunglasses on does it present.

Is the display on my phone polarised? - perhaps this is something everyone knows, and I was just showing my ignorancesmile

yes, an LCD without a polariser will show only a white screen - I would suggest that it's simply just a lower quality polariser on the LCD being an low end device - the original Apple and Samsung panels have good quality polarisers which play nicely with polarised sunglasses.

Replacement screens generally have replacement polarisers in varying quality.

I'd suggest that if it's a major issue you might want to look at another device.

Plenty of screen protectors seem to be polarised
