I've got a friend who has just moved to a new flat and their internet is provided by the landlord who is connected to Vodafone with an Ultra Hub.

The problem is they can't get their chromecast to find their other devices as the Chromecast is throwing an error about client isolation mode.

I can't find any detailed manuals or screenshots of the configuration pages for this modem anywhere. Does the wifi on this mode have an AP client isolation mode enabled by default and can that be turned on/off via the admin interface on the Ultra Hub?

If anyone here does have an Ultra Hub, can you post a screenshot of with the admin page for the Wifi while it is set to Advanced mode?

I'm wondering if you need to enable UPNP, it's disabled by default.

UPnP is very different to client isolation.

Yeah, I couldn't see anything else that looked remotely useful. Wifi settings below, these routers don't even have a guest wifi option:

Although the error message doesn't indicate a UPnP problem it is apparently required for Chromecast: https://support.google.com/chromecastbuiltin/answer/7300656?hl=en

I guess another possibility is that there's a wifi extender hanging off the UH, and your Chromecast is on that while your device is on the main wifi (or vice versa). Do you know the network setup?

Thanks everyone - something was twitchy inside the chromecast or the modem. I fired up some extra devices and did some ping testing and didn't see any issues with client isolation.  I reset everything to factory default and reconfig'd from the groundup and it's working now.  So while the Chromecast reported Client Isolation as the issue, that does appear to be misleading.
