Hi

 

I just got an ex lease Lenovo laptop that came with a Sierra  EM7455 LTE-A card (this uses a M.2 slot in the laptop) but I keep getting a msg of "insert SIM" I tried both a Skinny and 2D SIM with no success and now wonder whether this LTE card works on NZ LTE networks?

 

Not a big deal as we can use hot spot off a mobile but I was curious to see if it would work

Could it be locked to a specific operator? Is this an import?

Thank you for the reply and documentation link

 

The Skinny IMEI checker says not supported BUT Spark one says it is, is it possible to work on Spark but not on Skinny?

 

I've also emailed Warehouse mobile to check the IMEI too as 2D/Warehouse and VFNZ don't appear to have a IMEI checker :(

 

Our SIMs are Skinny and Warehouse Mobile

Spark & Skinny are the same thing in this case. 

 

 

 

I've got a EM7305 in my laptop and it works great, no band 28 but other than that...they can be picked up pretty cheaply now, might be an option to swap the card out. 

 


Edit - are you sure the SIM is inserted correctly? just looked it up and it seems that the 7455 & 7305 both support the same LTE bands (as far as support for Spark is concerned anyway), so should work in most urban areas on Spark 4G, unless there are multiple variants of the card maybe.

I use the L850-GL in my Lenovo, seems to support most of the bands and gets some pretty decent speeds which is handy for testing.

I have an ex-Lease Lenovo with a "Sierra Wireless EM7430 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A" connected via internal USB. Working fine with my VFNZ SIM.

Sounds more like a hardware issue than a network compatibility issue to me. The message means the device can't see/read the sim card. If it was network/SIM locked you'd generally get a message alluding to this. If it was a frequency issue (which others have proven it is not) you'd get a no-signal/network not found error.
