I'm close to being ready to on-sell my current TV, given I picked the new one up today (it'll be on the wall by now too, if damn Panasonic included screws for mounting - I had assumed they'd be in the box or fit the current ones).

My problem is I really don't know what it's worth, so hoped to get some ideas here.

It's a Panasonic TH-P60ST50Z 60" plasma (similar to this one I think), manufactured Oct 2012, in excellent condition. I have the stand somewhere too. Edit - also two pairs of 3D glasses - if anyone still watches 3D!

TM has a number of plasmas listed, but few are ever 60"; the only one currently listed is the equivalent model from the following year, and they're asking $520-$600.

I'm thinking a key factor affecting value is location (I'm in the megalopolis of PN) and the difficulty/cost of shipping (no box), but given it's still a damn fine TV - and I'd personally chose to watch this over most 4K LCDs...

So what do you reckon is a reasonable amount to ask?

Realistically you'd probably be lucky to get more than $300 for it which is probably a fair value. Very few of the plasma's on TM actually sell, and I've seen VT's go for that whereas the ST isn't as good.

Yeah I sold a 50 inch VT for 500 it had a perfect picture and no issues. New owner loves it. I have 2x VT 65 I may replace but yeah new OLED means its all moved on. The ST is not the VT either sadly.

Not sure which model exactly, but someones giving away a 42" Panasonic plasma in good condition..... unfortunately plasma ended up being being known as the hungry kid in the tv family, and with everyone so "green" these days....

I've still got 2x Panasonic plasma's though, we are looking at moving to LED soon for one of them.

Yeah, I'm not a greedy bugger, so am happy to get what whatever is appropriate for it - just want to see it still used, as it's still a decent enough TV.

I had contemplated keeping this and selling the LG 4K HDR LCD in the house, which I detest thanks to its (lack of) 'blacks', but that cabinet only fits a 55"...

@xpd: are you meaning OLED or LCD for replacing one of your plasmas? If the latter, you are likely to be disappointed for the same reason I hate our LCD...

There is simply no way you can ever go from a Plasma to a LCD without regretting it.

I've got one of the brand new Philips hospitality TV's here at home at present (HFL5014) and it's quite remarkable how bad it is compared to my Pioneer Plasma which I still don't want to get rid of!

I reckon the size would be the most valued feature on the used TV market. 55" is much more common and you're one better than that.
You might get someone looking to upgrade from their 42" or 50" plasma.
Generally speaking it seems the Plasma fans are buying 55"+ 4K OLED Smart TVs so there may be lots of 7+ year old Plasmas for sale.

Yep, I'm one of them, having replaced this plasma with a 65" Panasonic OLED (OLED is really the primary option for those moving on from plasma).

Anyway, may initially list it here for a few days, once I've dug up the stand, and then throw it on TM if I have no luck.

I went from a Panny VT20 and VT60 to Samsung QLED and while there was also a 4K jump in there too, the QLED is overall a better viewing experience... I think some of the historical reverence shown towards plasmas is a bit affected by rose tinted glasses today.

And OT, they're not worth anything meaningful. I havea 50" VT20 in my garage at the moment and after I move in a few weeks I'll have that VT20 in my garage and the 60" VT60 in my new workshop. It's better than the $250 people want to offer.

I have a 60" Panasonic Plasma (not sure what model) that I am not going to ever replace unless it dies. It's in the family room and works just fine and I can't see why I need to upgrade it.

If I want to go to 4K it will be an upgrade to my 1080P projector to some UST one.

Nope, if I was a wealthy baby boomer I would have bought an OLED to replace them, not a QLED :-)

Although, to be fair, I usually use my projector for anything decent :-)

Plasma was good until OLED came along. But OLED just has some many advantages over plasma, and many plasmas will now have reached the end of their life. I am sure someone will still pay a few hundred for it, but most will not look modern anymore compared to modern almost bezel free TVs.

The place where Plasmas still trump OLED / QLED is motion...

Not overly bright, use a ton of power and generate heat like no one elses business - but man they handle motion brilliantly.

I will be a sad boy when I have to replace my VT60.
