Does anyone know why I would be getting rain fade on sunny days? It seems to be happening on really sunny days and between 12pm - 3pm. It was just a few channels that didn't work but yesturday I couldn't get any it was the nicest day and by 3pm I could watch all the channels again.

Get it replaced. It obviously doesn't like it when it gets hot and gives up. Comes right when it cools down again.
You could try cooling it with a hose to prove it.

Ironically rain might cool it down - but might also give you rain fade. Either way it seems to be a losing battle.

Call Sky. I had the same issue, and it turned out to be water getting into the LNB. They will come out and fix it - no charge if it's a fault with their gear.

I have experienced this in Auckland recently for three days when there have been clear skys around midday. But the skytv facts explain, and all is well before and after the event in my experience. No rain-fade, just the sun being in line with the satellite at the middle of the day and overloading my MySkyHdi+ receiver's 4 tuner inputs with loud hash radiation. Afterwards OK. As you say.

few people seem to watch Sky at that time, and even fewer complain on the few days twice a year that the problem exists for up to half an hour if there is full sun. But the event is unsettling at the time.....

Sky now offer isky that should see you through any genuine (non crappy lnb related) offline periods.
