Yup - I've experienced this recently as well. Solution is a reboot!

@Jiriteach That is not really a solution - I like to pause the start of a show like Fair Go and then wait about 5 - 7 minutes and FF thru the Ads

This is why the restart was awesome on VodafoneTV

Agreed, I’ve tried a reboot too and the problem returns for me anyway, so not even a workaround.

I was more meaning for now and for me it seems that its the only way I can get it sorted. Solution = workaround.
Its totally annoying and not ideal and a reboot isnt a solution but this is the only workaround I have found for now.

I finally had a play with one of the new sky boxes as my elderly parents my sky drive died.

Despite browsing over opinions above over months, I was shocked at how slow the interface was.

It really wasn't much better than the mysky box I've had for many yrs....

Seems that every other day or week there is a new issue.

New issue over the last few nights (apart from the one mentioned above with recording and pop-up mentioning about subscribing) -
Watching a program and it just suddenly starts attempting to fast forward or rewind. No one touched the remote. It was on a flat surface on the table.

Absoultely annoying. Need to work this out but I wonder if the batteries are dying and thats causing this randomness.

The fun of using beta products in production!

Accidently disconnected my Sky remote from my Sky Pod ( trying to connect the Skypod remote to use with another Android box). It was working OK with Skypod  before my misguided experiment

I could not re-connect until I found this https://help.sky.co.nz/s/article/Using-your-new-Sky-Pod-remote

Flashing red also means battery is low as well as indicating sending commands via IF ( which I thought it was doing)

Replaced the batteries and connected no problem :-)

Hello Sky,

1) One of the most annoying issues is during playback of a recorded program. If you rewind for just a second or 2 to rewatch something that was just shown but you missed, in many cases the Sky box will automatically fast forward to the place you started to rewind from. This is annoying especially when watching sport type programs in which you often want to skip back a few seconds to rewatch something again.

2) On the old Sky box you could position into a long recording (golf, rugby) by typing in the number of minutes to skip to in the recording. e.g. Typing 120 would position 2 hours into the recording. It would be good if this feature was added to the new Sky box.

3) Is there a good reason why you dull the screen when using FFWD/RWND?

Ross.

@SkyNZ  Welcome and thank you ( although I 'd like to add "why has it taken you this long?").

A couple of suggestions from me for starters

  1. Be honest
  2. Treat the posters here as adults who have plenty of technical nous.  Responses like "have you tried turning it off and on" or other 'contact-centre-script' like suggestions will  make people sigh and roll their eyes

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Hi Sky,

Appreciate the engagement here. I also have some frustrations with fast forwarding with the Sky Pod. Mainly that it is very slow which I assume is a streaming vs satellite issue. One example is when I got up a bit early before work to try and watch the last hour or so of the last round of the British Open golf. It was an 11 hour program and it took me a full 18 minutes to fast forward to just after 9 hours, something that would have taken a few seconds with Vodafone TV. I almost needed to have got up half an hour earlier to begin the fast forwarding process. If speeding this up isn't an option with the stream, I love the idea of being able to select a point to skip to such as Raw's example of typing 120 to skip 2 hours above.

Something that would also be very handy would be a 10 or 20 second skip option. Vodafone TV had a 20 second skip option which I found very useful when watching sport, particular trying to watch something like an EPL match early before work (and have a time you need to leave by to make a train) - being able to skip through an injury stoppage or substitution etc this way was very helpful, or with rugby being able to skip through the time spent setting up scrums and lineouts etc, it's quite difficult to do that with the current fast forwarding capability. The Sky Go app does have a 10 second skip function so if this could be implemented on the Pod somehow it would be very useful. Also very handy when fast forwarding through ads and you go a bit too far, being able to skip back 10 or 20 seconds is much easier than standard rewinding.

Other than the frustrations with fast forwarding, I'm happy with the Pod so far as it seems to meet all my needs and I much prefer an internet streaming option to satellite given Wellington weather.

RE - A new update
What version is this? or are you referring to update Sky STB version 2.22.34-tv which has been out for a few weeks now? If there is a new update - can you please post the release notes?

Thanks

Welcome - advertising suggests that when accessing Netflix and the like via the box, the content is displayed in 4k. Customer service advised me that it's not 4k.

Can you please confirm either way?

Thanks

@Jiriteach.
The new version of STB is 2.23.44
They appear to have stuffed up the release notes version/description...
