Raw127:

Hello Sky,

1) One of the most annoying issues is during playback of a recorded program. If you rewind for just a second or 2 to rewatch something that was just shown but you missed, in many cases the Sky box will automatically fast forward to the place you started to rewind from. This is annoying especially when watching sport type programs in which you often want to skip back a few seconds to rewatch something again.

2) On the old Sky box you could position into a long recording (golf, rugby) by typing in the number of minutes to skip to in the recording. e.g. Typing 120 would position 2 hours into the recording. It would be good if this feature was added to the new Sky box.

3) Is there a good reason why you dull the screen when using FFWD/RWND?

Ross.

Hello @SkyNZ, delighted to see you here.

Those three issues are the ones that grind my wheels the most, too, except I'd add "Pause" to the last one, so it'd be

3) Is there a good reason why you dull the screen when using FFWD/RWND/Pause?

Also, I'd add

4) When using FFWD/RWND/Pause, the blue "<- Back" on-screen button is in almost exactly the most inconvenient spot imaginable, as it falls directly over the current score line in your own rugby broadcasts, so when I'm FFWDing through the rugby to avoid the dull bits, I can't actually see the score. You could move it down a bit, or just leave it off altogether: the remote control already has a perfectly functional "<-" button, there's no need for an on-screen button too

Welcome - advertising suggests that when accessing Netflix and the like via the box, the content is displayed in 4k. Customer service advised me that it's not 4k. Can you please confirm either way? Thanks

I did my own research 😉 and the likes of Netflix do not show the 4k options for videos played on the Sky Box. I believe the apps check the capabilities of the box and your subscription to determine. I also subscribe to the 4K service. However, on the same TV, the built-in app does recognise that my TV can display 4K. My TV also tells me that it's receiving a 4K capable signal from the Sky Box. Most frustrating.

Another feature that would be handy on the Pod is an option to remove something from your watchlist without having to fast forward to the end of the stream. Often with sport there is quite a bit of time for analysis etc on the end of the stream and as mentioned earlier I often watch overseas based sport early before work so stop when the game ends. It would be helpful to just have a remove option rather than having to get to the end of the stream for it to drop off.

Is it possible the supplier of this device (Sky Box) able to pair more than 1 bluetooth remote? I can pair additional remotes but when the box has been restarted they get deleted

Ex Vodafone Tv users, I'm kind of intrigued how many will bother with Sky Tv after April when our plans go up in price by over $20+. I pay $90.43 for all the services with Sky Pod/Multiroom with Sky entertainment & Sport. Goes up by $24.05, 18th April 2024. The last week of watching Sky has been a Pain, in the butt. I can't justify watching a sub standard service for the extra cost & will most likely cancel my subscription. The Sky Pod is a bit of a dud. Had nothing on Vodafone Tv. How many members are looking at leaving at the price & service?

Most of the viewing in the house is via Netflix, ThreeNow and recently TVNZ+ with occasional Living channel

Those apps are already on my separate Android box (purchased when we had Vodafone box) but are used on the Skypod for convenience.

So yes the increase will prompt me to look more carefully at value for money. Currently paying $45.82 for Sky Starter and Sky Entertainment

I was unaware of the potential price rise due in 2024, to be fair post the exit of VTV I was a little disappointed with the Sky Pod so I invested in a 4K Chromecast Google TV, primarily because I could load Apple TV.  The only reason we still have Sky at all currently is for the sport,  A-League football, WSL surfing, the Olympics, and netball.  If there were other streaming sources for these sports I would drop Sky.  I will definitely review my subscription in the new year. I recognise that there are probably a number of options for some of these sports but having been a Sky subscriber for a number of years there is a certain familiarity.

Now that we have sky on here I'll repeat my request for the return of the old favourite channels functionality in the guide.  I'm fed up of having to scroll through pages of sports and movie channels to find what I want, and I'm getting too old to memorise all of the channel numbers!

@SkyTV The ability to hide channels you are not subscribed to would be awesome

VodafoneTV had this functionality

Thanks

I am seriously looking at kicking Sky into touch - over $110 a month for what - I have had nothing but trouble with the new skybox - now they have deleted all my recordings/apps/settings and I am still waiting for a manager to call me to dicsuss the issue - they told me that no manager would call as that is not how they operate - offered me $56 compensation because their staff member wiped everything - turned that down as I want a manager to listen to my issues and frustrations since this totally inept product hit the market.  Nothing records still - the tennis still cuts off/fails to record/ breaks it up into loads of 9 minutes and 6 minute recordings - or records say 8 hours but when you go to watch it is not actually viewable.  The on screen guide is a joke as everytime you click past a channel you don't subscribe to it wants a password as it says 'restricted content' got to click everywhere to get out of it - and I am not going to memorise all the channel numbers. To say that I am totally frustrated over this is being kind - I am still waiting for a representative/manager to call - what a disgusting customer service department now......  There is actually nothing that works to a good standard for this product
