The FAQ is saying something entirely different:

Do I have to be a SKY customer to access this service?
No you don't. SKY Sport Now is a sport only offering and can be purchased independently of a SKY subscription.

I don't see why they would care, all in all, it's extra money in their pocket.

EDIT: They do reference SKYGO for existing sport subscribers, but again, extra money in pocket, I don't see why they'd care.

Its in the Full FAQ

If I am a SKY SPORT subscriber do I get access to the SKY Sport Now app?

No you will not have access to the SKY Sport Now app. Remember if you're a SKY Sport subscriber you can access SKY Sport 1‐4, ESPN and pop‐up channels on your set‐top box and with SKY GO available on PC/Mac and selected tablets and mobile devices.

To me, that is just stating you don't get access to it bundled with your subscription, not the fact that they won't let you pay for it?

Its saying you are not eligible. Try asking for it with the Sky name, address and email

In terms of picture quality how does this compare to Spark Sport. Am Keen to sign up and trial for Champions league and maybe a spot of Ashes cricket. I might just take a punt and go for it but any feedback appreciated.

I agree. That doesn’t say you can’t subscribe. It just says you don’t get it for free. Have you tried to register?

I like the changes so far. It's a lot easier to change channel on web browser, app and when casting, the app has a pop out window when you scroll down while watching a so you can see what's listed in the guide and still watch the stream. The resolution has improved accross web and casting and is a lot clearer but the frame rate appears the same.

The replays and highlights available via the web are 720p.

When watching a channel stream via web browser it gives the option to select from avaliable resolutions, interestingly it has a 720p and 720hd option, not sure what the difference is there.

ianajmes: In terms of picture quality how does this compare to Spark Sport. Am Keen to sign up and trial for Champions league and maybe a spot of Ashes cricket. I might just take a punt and go for it but any feedback appreciated.

Just signed up to Sky Now and watched a few minutes of rugby and football on my Samsung phone and the quality is better than Spark Sport. Will try on Apple TV later.

12 months. Replaces the STB which I cancelled last week for half the price. I only have Sky for sports, so this is perfect.

I bought a week pass last night. Thought it was worth it for the Ashes test and though the English weather ruined that chance I saw a bit of the Black caps test and watched a couple of football highlights. From what I did see the streams were far smoother than what I have watched on spark. Hope the weather holds off so I can get a look at the Ashes later and the weekend should provide some decent opportunities for my interests.
I should add this was viewing on Apple TV 4k.

What’s the on demand experience like? Is it true on demand (I’m not sure if I’ve seen it finalised on this thread). Can you start watching something from the beginning for example 15 minutes after it’s started? Particularly interested as you’re on an ATV4k.

It's all live and on demand. Just put the cricket on and to go back in time to the previous show you just slide the bar back. Maybe a 'watch from start' button would be better but it was really smooth to go backwards and forwards.

They've done a good job.

Thanks. Don’t you risk getting spoilers with Sky’s implementation?
