kharris: Not sure it will get better as it is the old fanpass app with more channels rebadged. For program info go to watch live and then down to the guide and you can scroll across. If you want to watch later you can airplay from your phone. Not perfect but at least you can watch delayed.

Maybe it will get better, now that they've bought RugbyPass.com.  Hopefully they lift functionality like 'Start from Beginning', out of there.

No idea how that is related Rugbypass.com is a foreign investment, its customers are 62 other countries

Not sure how that doesn't mean they couldn't deploy this technology locally.

kharris: I have checked the apps on my iPhone and iPad and I can scrub back in the past on live channels or play something from the TV guide that is less than 24 hours in the past but these options are not available on the Apple TV app. I wonder if there is any intention to update the Apple TV app to do this?

You would think so. There is no gain from restricting ATV4, but allowing on a laptop or iPhone/iPad. As SSN is a copy and paste from Fanpass, thats probably why, I expect them to add that

He was referring to RP helping the missing SSN features. Do you mean use the RP app to replace SSN app? I guess they could do that. Much easier to update the SSN app, its missing some features as its only the Fanpass app, no more, no less. They arent restricting those features so I expect them to tidy that up

Not sure if Chris Keall is talking trash or not but is this really 60fps to him and us? Now unless I'm mistaken I've played games at 60fps and to me gaming at 60fps looks very different to the so called Sky Now 60fps. I even recall some US sports streams looking smoother than Sky Sport Now, so are those US sports streams at 120fps now? There really needs to be some measurable streaming standards because what he says can be completely different to what she says. The picture quality is pretty good but the ball still trails and its not as smooth as the Sky Digital feed.

I'm happy with the picture quality, it's not as good as satellite but for half the price I cant complain. Rugby on my phone was very crisp, much better than Spark. Cricket on the 50" plasma with ATV4 was really good too. I dont know or care much about technical specs, just what my eyes tell me.

Exactly, as a superior feed that is poorly encoded won't be as good as a lesser feed that is coded excellently.

F1 on Spark was better than F1 on Sky. But I still maintain that the Heineken Cup and soccer is a lower quality feed on Spark, as the WTA was pretty good. Same day different sports. I noticed that from day one with Spark Sport. Haven't had tome to get SSN, keen to though.

Great to see the initiative from Sky but I'm surprised at how high the prices are.

$10 week and $20 month and I might consider dipping in from time to time, but not interested at their current prices as I'm only after 1 or 2 sports.

I’ve found the same problem with ATV not allowing one to scrub back (haven’t tried the iPad). Can however pause the content.

I was a little underwhelmed by the change to the appleTV offering - it literally is fan pass with extra channels (which is nice).

I tried SSN on a browser however - that’s substainally better than what fanpass used to be on the desktop - the experience is much better. I seem to get a bit of gltiching from time to time, however.

All in all, my experience so far is that the AppleTV provides for the “best” quality when viewing, which is why I tend to favour watching via the AppleTV..

$20 sky sport pass very good idea to try out watched black caps and a couple of rugby league games yesterday very good quality and so superior to spark sports which not very clear and gives me headache. Also to go all blacks, black ferns and tomorrow warriors plus black caps and few rugby league games also so for $20 this very good value to try out until after world cup then decide  perhaps $40 month good and easier than getting kayo plus vpn which would probably end up costing about $35 and the hassle of setting up.

Paid for the week pass too.

Looks pretty good watching live. Haven't had a chance to see how watching old events works.

Playing via laptop HDMI to TV.

Sky Sport Now is everything I wish Spark Sport was. Watching the Rugby live now, have watched some cricket, tennis, league and some football and am impressed with quality. Shame about no rewinding or catch up (Apple TV) but easy enough to navigate.

I agree, Kayo is Aussie is far more polished offering, offering much the same, in terms of all Foxtel sports streaming channels, but also more. and is $25 a month. It has pretty much all the sports you could imagine (with the exception of EPL and Champs league).

This is their full list - https://www.finder.com.au/sports-on-kayo

But $50 a month  for SSN (or $40 if you commit for a year) seems a bit on the high side.

I can't even get the SSN app to stay open. Have the latest update, running on Android tablet 8.0. AS soon as it gets to Sign In page and I click the button app force closes. Have tried on different networks.

Will be forced to stick with Kayo until I can get SSN working to test if it is good enough to swap.

Have you tried on a different device?
