Were you at work today? Neither were they! :-)
I'm sure Sky are open on the weekend? I recall calling them on a Saturday to cancel.
larknz: There were certainly a lot of shops open today and a lot of people working. If you are in retail you should be open 7 days.
True, Sky is retail, and they are open for business, you can call them up. But the 0800 number is a promotions team for Sky, not Sky directly. And its like a soft team, they don't advertise, they arent in the active market selling Sky.

I was working actually.
kharris: And you should learn to read better.
Is this kind of comment really necessary ?
kharris: They are not in retail they are a telemarketing company and Sky tells them who they are allowed to call. They work on business days at night so you can call them in the afternoon. I don't know how many times I have postied this.
Do we now need to read every single comment in every single thread to see what's already been posted in future ?
I'm not in retail but I do run my own business. If someone is willing to pay me money for my services then I am willing to answer the phone.
I appreciate that may not be the case for this telemarketing company, they may like their weekends off, but they are happy to turn up on my doorstep at all hours of the evening and weekend so why would it be wrong to think they may answer the phone on a weekend ?
martyyn:
Just had a bloke at the door offering Basic + MySky + Sport + HD Ticket for $39 which slightly contradicts the post a couple up.
To be fair, he wasn't all that clued up so he could have it wrong. He had no idea what Bein Sports was and couldn't do any more than hand me the plastic sheet he had telling him what he was supposed to be selling to me !
He gave me his bosses number so I may give that a call.
It is possible that the door knockers are offering something different again. The Telemarketing team do not do door to door sales so that would be a separate crowd again. I would be suspicious of the information provided given the package price of $39 is the same but without the HD ticket.

The posters opinion was that "If you are in retail you should be open 7 days".
They felt like expressing what should happen so I simply did the same ;-)
I have posted this many times.... and no, you are not expected to read every post... but you could press the "view answer" button all the details are listed there.

Ok, let me rephrase that. If the telemarketing company are happy to call me out of business hours, surely they would be open to me doing the same ;)
I agree on the door knocker. Poor bloke didn't know what he was doing. Just needed a job obviously so good on him for doing whatever it takes but it wouldn't have taken much to learn about the product he was selling.

Perhaps I didn't read it as negatively as you. I still think your response was harsh.

Thanks for the heads up.

You can ring them outside normal business hours ;-) Just rang them to clarify.
They are available Monday to Saturday after mid day (I forgot to ask what time they finish).
Just so everyone is aware:
They are processing our calls to them as "referrals". I am pretty sure that Sky is not 100% happy they are doing so many "referrals" and that number has become so public as they are only really supposed to be annoying and cold call people at dinner time ;-) They don't do door to door sales either - that must be a separate company again.
This is cheaper than the best deal you will get from Sky directly so I am sure that Sky would prefer you call their consumer line so they can have more $$$ and I guess not have to pay a commission.
I have no connection with either company, but I hope that this deal, and our access to it remains for the future.
I am only providing the information so others can take advantage of it. I for one wouldn't have Sky if I had to pay full price.
Edit: This is my last post to this thread unless I become aware of a better deal ;-)

Your posts are appreciated. The installer that I chose has just left. I called the 0800 Friday. Could have had it Saturday morning but I wasnt going to be here. Chuffed
At $49 (with HD Ticket) its cheaper than Fanpass and better. If you used Fanpass on and off its little more to get the real deal. All popups, recording, issue free.
