dclegg: it will only continue up until the amount of content that was buffered prior to pausing.

Just out of interest, roughly how much buffered play do you get? It could go towards answering one of my other questions.

I'll need to retest again, but approximately about a minute.

That's a good enough answer, thanks.

The earlier question was how latency could have an impact on the quality of the smoothness of the video playback - if it buffers 60 seconds then it shouldn't.

IMO Poor connection or latency would only cause buffering between blocks of video and not during playback of a buffered section.  Still sounds more like encoding to me!

I think it's more likely to be encoding also. In fact I'm sure I've seen the 'stuttering' issue before when transcoding video myself.

Me too especially converting AVCHD to DVD when recorded at different frame rates - but that's another topic.

boston legal season 4 episode 12.  first few minutes (stopped watching after that) jumps around like crazy.  looks like a very bad encode and needs to be redone.

Highly entertaining!

This doesn't look like an encoding problem. The bits that get skipped can be found again by scrubbing back and playing through a few more times.

Hi guys,

Sorry about that - we've had some issues with the origin server this morning and early afternoon. Some of you probably saw missing artwork in lists and there was significant streaming issues as a fall out. It should be fixed for now, but we're still finalising the setup, so some disruption is probably inevitable as we go forward.

that's very strange.. i can go five minues on pause (answer phone, make coffee etc.) sit down to watch and get a 'buffering' message within 20 seconds...?

Netflix shows me a buffer OF 5 minutes pretty consistently once it gets going, and 'smoothes' out the occasional email pulled, or push alert on the phone etc, while LBox seems to hit a ''buffer' EVERY sing,e time something happens, unless i disco ALL other devices [except for the cartoons somehow, these seem to rarely get stuck buffering even when i'm GZ'ing and surfing/emailing while the kids are watching....

Also stuttering a bit here. Seems to be that my laptop's CPU doesn't have enough grunt to play the video smoothly - gets much worse if i start doing something else in the background while playing video.

Hi Lightbox
How about a summary of issues that you are working on, fixed and not in scope.

I'm sure not every issue is listed here. For issues you would rather not publish feel free to PM me and I will take a look.

Let me know also if you would like me to go back through the account creation process.

Cheers

  • Spark VDSL
  • DNS-Spark
  • No VPN
  • Windows 7 Pro 64bit
  • Chrome V36
  • Notebook, HDMI out to Panasonic plasma

Almost every program suffers from the stutter problem during panning shots as noticed by many.

The Dresden Files. Used to list Episodes 2-13, but now relabeled and says Episodes 1-12. There are 13 Episodes. Your Episode 1 is actually Episode 2, the Pilot is missing. Why relabel the episodes? Don't have all of the episodes available? Why not leave them as 2-12 if the plan is to list the Pilot after launch?

The X Files Series 1 Episode 1 - Audio so far out of sync I gave up after a minute or so.

Hope you can sort out the stutter problem as it can be rather severe in places.

  • Spark (EUBA)
  • Spark (ns1 and ns2.xtra.co.nz)
  • No VPN
  • Win7
  • IE11 (because it doesn't work on Opera!)
  • Just HDMI to my PC monitor
  • Issue is that episodes of whatever I watch seem to just stop randomly as if I have reached the end of the video(could be 30 seconds in, or 45 minutes in).  Progress bar goes back to the beginning of the episode.  Pressing play again will not resume the video.  "Back" button works, and starting the video again it won't stop in the same place.
  • Was working fine for about the first week, now randomly happens.  It happens pretty much no matter what I watch.  It happened in the last 3 episodes of Vikings, first ep of Orange is the New Black, Spartacus and the last 2 episodes of Orphan Black.
  • Any suggestions?

I am very interested in hearing about other examples of this.
