We are Watching the new series on mysky tonight, and compared to freeview the picture is awful. Anyone else noticing this as well?

Have you got freeview HD? Freeview from satellite doesn't have HD.

Freeview is HD, hence it's better than the picture from mysky (which is usually hd). I've not noticed this before where mysky HD has a worse picture than that on freeview HD for the same channel.

mysky HD using satellite right? it can't look as good as digital terrestrial.

Also I don't know about mysky HD, but I know sky uses the SD versions of Freeview channels.

The MySky Tv2 satellite channel is HD.

The Freeview TV2 satellite channel is not in HD.

They are seperate channels.

However, in saying that, it is possible the freeview terrestrial TV2 broadcast has a higher bitrate than the mysky satellite TV2 HD broadcast. But, I wouldn't think you'd really notice much difference.

From their website, TV2 is in HD....

They might use some sort of compression that introduces artifacts which decreases the picture quality.

No, AFAIK Tv 1,2,3 are in HD on mysky without purchasing the HD ticket. HD ticket is only for sport and movie channels.

Cheers, might be that after all. Wound up watching on freeview in the end. Can't say I've ever noticed it on other shows prior to this, I may just have to keep an eye on it the future.

In my humble opinion tv1and 3 news looks "heaps" better in freeview HD than Sky HD.
Nothing scientific just plain eyeballing
But my lord NFL fotball on ESPN is to die for!!!
