(if there's a way to access subtitles without the remote control, please let me know--can only get reception through sky, and tv remote teletext controls don't respond on these channels ('component' setting)

the remote for a Motorola sky box is broken. I can't see any model number anywhere on the remote, and it's hard to access the box (I can see the serial number/etc. on the bottom, but not sure what exactly to look for).

can I buy just any old new Motorola sky remote and it'll work? or, would I get a universal remote or some generic cheap one? or any idea where/what to look for on the box itself?
and where do I buy from? (the landlord/homeowner won't sort this out for us).

thanks for your help.

Presumably you are the account holder so just ring Sky and ask for a replacement. They own the equipment so their responsibility. Doesn't cost anything.

I had a broken one and took it into their pickup collection (dont know where you are based, but it was local for me). She reched into a big box and gave me a new one. Then when I got multi-room installed they gave me another one :D

account holder made a call and they're mailing out a new one, with a return envelope for the broken one :)

I see your problem has been solved. But to the question about teletext, hasn't it ceased being broadcast?
