Greetings.

I live in Masterton and have discovered that ch 51 Al Jazeera will not show through Igloo. It is shown through my Freeview TV's. Have been jumping through the hoops that Igloo support want me to do but cannot view Al Jazeera. Also cannot view ch 45 TVSN, ch 63 APNA & ch 66 TV29. I go to those channels but there is no video or audio. The signal strength, etc, all show good numbers on those channels. I used to be able to view Al Jazeera. The other channels are of no interest to me, so I am concentrating on Al Jazeera.

It is thought that my Igloo box has developed an unusual fault. Igloo is getting back to me today, after discussing the problem with their "team leader".
It would be so easy to ask a friend, in the Wairarapa, if they get Al Jazeera but I don't know anyone who has one. I went to the store where I bought it from 21 months ago but they do not have any in stock.

Any wairarapa Igloo subscribers not getting Al Jazeera?

If you read this and are receiving Al Jazeera, please say so. That will prove that my box has faulted.......

Then comes the fight with the retailer as the say their infamous words "It is out of the 12 months warranty period".
To which I reply..... "Consumer Guarantees Act".
They then act like I have used a 'dirty' word. lol

It would be easier to just watch Al Jazeera via the internet.  Our Panasonic TV has the app, or if yours doesn't, there's a free stream available via their website.

Al Jazeera was shifted from MediaWorks mux to WTV mux which doesn't appear to exist on Popoiti, looking at the Freeview maps anyway.

More recent information shows WTV mux on Popoiti.

I have been talking to a person I know at JDA. That person says:
"You should get TVSN and Al Jazeera on the regular Freeview terrestrial service wherever there's coverage. It's up to Igloo which programs you can see through their set top box but I will forward your comment to their management.

Apna and TV29 (and Parliament TV) are not subscribers to the service off Popoiti so you won't be able to see them even if they appear in your program guide. That's the choice of the broadcaster not the transmission provider.

Al Jazeera and TVSN were shifted to a JDA mux using WTV spectrum to be accurate. Yesshop is now also available and another two programs will be launched within a month from JDA transmission sites (which includes the Wairarapa)."

As it has been a week now since I noticed no Al Jazeera, I asked Igloo to escalate this matter to a "team leader". They say I will be called on Monday.
I am not holding my breath as, on Thursday, the Igloo helpdesk person who got me to do the factory resets & rescans, etc, said she would talk to her "team leader" and phone me the next day.
I asked her if she was sure that she will phone me the next day and she said yes.

At the end of the next day (Friday) I had no call so I phoned Igloo and asked the person I spoke to to see what notes had been written about my problem. Notes were there but no mention of a call back.
It is annoying when people don't do what they say they are going to do.

I am starting to wonder how many people actually use an Igloo box.

Thanks for the replies.

My man at JDA got a reply from Igloo management, who said:
“Occasionally the Igloos cache their SI so either a reboot or rescan should pick up the stream changes.  Igloo [set top boxes] should get all Freeview channels.”

Been there, done that.

To Be Continued...

I had asked on Igloo's Facebook page 6 days ago if any Wairarapa subscribers were experiencing the same problem as me.. I also asked them to say if they are receiving Al Jazeera.
There has been no answer.

I had asked Igloo 'help desk' to escalate my problem as the support was hopeless. Last Tuesday, a Team Leader phoned me and when I suggested that Igloo has a problem with their transmission off those two channels, she rubbished that. She said no one else from the Wairarapa had complained about not being able to view either Al Jazeera and TVSN. She said that my box must be faulty but it was out of warranty, as it was 2 years old. She said that if I re-subscribed to their $20 monthly package, they would send me a new box at no charge. But, if I did not re-subscribe, then I would have to pay for box.

I told her I was not interested and as a new box is $99 and if I wanted to pursue the mater in the Disputes Tribunal, it would cost me $45 to lodge with the Tribunal and as I would only get about $30 for the new box on Trade Me, it is not worth pursuing that line of action.

As I would not even think about trying to sell my original box on Trade Me, if there is the slightest doubt that it is faulty, I took the box with me to the Hutt Valley today as I was visiting family there. I hooked it up and, guess what....Al Jazeera boomed in. lol lol lol. TVSN did also.

So, Igloo do have a problem with their transmission in the Wairarapa and as no one else has complained, then, I think I can safely assume that I was the last Igloo subscriber over here. I have turned off the lights as I left. lol lol lol. Oh, I am enjoying myself!

Bye Bye...

So why don't you stop beating your head against a brick wall and just watch it via the Internet?

1)  Windows 10 has the app
2)  Many Smart TVs have the app
3)  Any web browser will work

Easy peasy!

Yes, I know I can watch Al Jazeera those ways. I have a home theater setup & a Harmony One remote control. Every thing goes through the receiver and all I had to do to watch Al Jazeera was press 51 on the remote. To watch it the other ways you mention is not convenient for me.
Thanks for your input :)
