Hey guys,

We released another update this week new, this time for Panasonic TV's.

The build includes a few layout enhancements including progress indicators and bug fixes.

Please feel free to update us on your experience at home.

Kind Regards

Paul

Any chance of Sony TV's achieving compatibility any time soon? I asked a year ago and still nothing. I have a free subscription but pay for Netflix as that is compatible and I am not forced to watch TV on a 12 inch screen.

I don't think Sony's older smart TV platform is particularly easy/friendly to develop for, and Android TV supports Google Cast/Chromecast out of the box. Plus they no longer manufacture sets with the old smart platform built in. So I'm guessing for Lightbox there isn't a lot of point?

I wonder how many people would be in your situation, and if it would therefore be worthwhile developing for the older Sony smart TVs?

So basically we have to retire the 2 yr old TV to the bedroom?  But does that mean that if we buy any android TV (I prefer Sony as they don't break down so much) that we will be able to view Lightbox on the TV without the horrid HDMI cable and awful screen resolution?

So a bit of good news – there is support for Sony Bravia smart TV’s (2013 – 2015) in the pipeline.

No confirmed date but I’ll let you know when we get close

Wow that is actually really impressive Lightbox!

Hopefully it comes quickly (and works well when it gets here).

I don't think it would... but I have been proven wrong is thread before! Although Android TV is a completely different platform to the old Sony smart TV platform. Then again they do have an Android app (just not an amazing one).

Although I have to wonder if they would suggest that the Google Cast/Chromecast functionality is sufficient for Sony Android TVs...

Not on current product road map I'm afraid. I will however raise it with the product team to investigate the current market penetration of Android TV's to see if we can get it in a future road map

I'll give you a hint (I'm in that industry)... penetration of Android TV is not great...

In what side of "that industry"?

Penetration amongst the people that are likely to cut the cord (and use lightbox) are more likely to have Android TV than the general public... Whether it be Nvidia Shield, any Sony in the last 12 months, or the actual google product... Not to mention all the chinese tv sticks.

It'll come and, like chromecast, lightbox will end up being left behind again.

Surely the LB android devs could do an app (adjustment to the standard android app) without a great deal of difficulty?

Is there a list of compatible Panasonic devices?

I've got a th-l42e6z - can't see Lightbox in the App Market?

Lightbox website says 2014-1025 Panasonic Smart TVs. I would also like to see an app for older Panasonic Smart TVs, as my parents and grandparents both have 2012/2013 Panasonic Smart TVs.

UI-wise they just need to add CEC control ability to the existing Android app for it to work on Android TV, but it's not looking very hopeful, last update was September last year.
