Yesterday I was getting this very anoying message that would appear all the time warning me to replace the batteries in the remote.

I checked the batteries and they were fine. Replace them anyway.

Whats up with this? Why is such a message necessary and why must it come up like every minute. Really annoying especially when you navigating in the menu. What happened to the good old fashion way of determining if batteries needed replacement in a remote? Ie. The device stops working.

How did you check the batteries to determine they were 'fine'?

I think it's actually kind of a cool function for the box to be able to tell you its remote battery has insufficient charge to power it properly.

You could always use a universal remote that has a rechargeable battery, or a long stick to poke the buttons on the front of the MySky boxLaughing.

Took them out, swopped them with the batteries in one of my daughters toys. Toy working well on the batteries.

Yip I agree it could be a cool function, but I think somebody has not thought the functionality through. Because when the batteries start going flat you get this annoying message like every few seconds. Then you have to use the return key to get rid of it. It just keeps popping up. Highly annoying. Besides it seems that the batteries were never flat in the first place.

Will use the long stick next time.

I guess my point was there may be enough charge in the battery to run a simple electric motor but insufficient to power the circuitry and IR flashers in the remote. I assume the box senses an incorrect or weak signal.

Perhaps a software change in the box so it only warns you once an hour (selectable in a menu) would make it more user friendly.

Actually no.  Using a universal remote, it's even MORE irritating with that message.

Never had it appear with my Harmony remote (famous last words I know).  But have seen some random responses to button presses on original remote, as above.  I wonder if firmware updates affect remote code responses?
