Just wanting to know if the Ultraplus F-9000HD twin tuner PVR will run NewCS/MgCamd to accept a sky smart card in its slot?  The same as a dreambox does, im currently doing it with a dreambox but am looking to get the Ultraplus F-9000HD if it will accept my sky smartcard.

The Ultraplus F-9000HD is the same as the Octagon SF1018HD, the manuals are also exactly the same, the processor chip is the same, both are linux based like the dreambox.  There are newcs/mgcamd bin files with start/stop scripts which are confirmed to run on the Octagon SF1018HD and read a smartcard in the slot,  there is also one guy on trademe who is selling plain standard SD Octagon receivers which run on 12 or 24v and are said to accept a sky smartcard.  So I dont see why the Ultraplus F-9000HD could not run newcs/mgcamd the same as the Octagon SF1018HD.

Would like to hear from anyone who has tried this, or who has a Ultraplus F-9000HD and is willing to try.

that's a very good question, I suspect you may get an answer on somewhere like Austech.
