All information regarding the programming of the Winter Olympics will be in a lift-out in the February SKYWATCH. SKY Sport will be covering every event at the games including uninterrupted coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies (on SKY Sport only). We will be using external commentary for all events except the opening and closing ceremony where SKY TV's commentators will put a kiwi spin on things (as TVNZ has done in the past). Stephen McIvor and co will be calling this. The Opening and closing ceremonies on Prime (our free to air broadcast) will have ads throughout, however SKY Sport 4 (Ch. 131) will have commercial free uninterrupted coverage.
- Prime (Free to air) will have 12 hours each day of coverage
- SKY Sport will have four 24 hour dedicated channels (SKY Sport 4, 5, 6 & 7 - Ch. 131-134) at not extra cost to SKY Sport subscribers
- SKY Sport 1, 2 & 3 will have a 2 hour highlights show every night during the Olympics a 19:00
- There will also be coverage available through our online and mobile platforms
Although this event is going to be filmed in HD, SKY does not have enough bandwidth available to broadcast Sport 4-7 in HD. So a decision was made to broadcast in standard definition as this way we are able to give customers unprecedented coverage of this event as described above. We hope you can appreciate any decision we take is never done so lightly and we also hope you will be able to enjoy our coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
