See there's a new service. Can add channel subscriptions by remote, channel 29. If go to channel blank screen and music, but after a while push red button comes up. Hope it uses a password or something as it could cause problems in some households. I went up to point where it listed subscriptions available and prices, no sign of password requirement up to that point.

This feature is available through the 'Active' menu button, menu option 5, which is really annoying me because option 5 was until the day before yesterday the option for the weather. I have got so used to pressing the combination of buttons to get the weather that now I find myself going to the Channel Upgrade screen each time I want to see the rain radar. A message appears saying that you are required to have the unit connected via phone line and you can't seem to cancel out of that. Why didn't they just add this new option to the bottom of the menu list (bad design if you ask me)?
Any other new features noticed? Is this a new firmware upgrade?

They take the application down for a couple of hours every night (midnight to 2am) for subscriber data updates.

You're right - it is annoying to change the Active menu order. I think that the thinking is that the Active menu has two types of functions: important system functions (setup, on demand, upgrade) that 'should' go at the top and lesser services (games and weather) that can go lower.

If you have no phone line you should be able to hit the 'go back' key to get out of the error message. Hitting the Active key on the remote should ditch the Upgrade app and take you straight back into the EPG.

There hasn't been a firmware update as the Upgrade app is a standalone piece of software, even though it looks like the MySKY EPG.

Thanks and yes I tried again last night and hitting the Active key or the Sky button brings you back to where you were, so not a biggie and I'm sure I will get used to the new order of things. Also noticed that on Channel xx (whatever the channel number is that you can also use to select the upgrade channel function) in the EPG the text of the channel name over-runs the column containing the channel name. It appears that testing was a bit lax on this occasion.Laughing

My worry is that one day some clown is going to be at my house and decide to order the movie package or worse - the Rugby channel.

I have neither and my interest in those channels is zero. Needs password protection

Can you block individual channels on standard sky digital?
(I know you can on HDi)
