What do you think of the sellers claim that it will work with sky subscriber cards?

There are some CAMs that claim NDS support. Same issues with stopping working till the card is put back into a real sky box.

I learnt about these last night from parents that have a caravan. Takes the older style blue cards and apparently works just as a regular decoder. They use it so they don't transport their MySkyHDI around (which is not recommended) and means they don't have to pay for a second decoder box just for taking away with them...just pull out the subscription card and off you go.

Until Sky comes and take down the auctions. The owners probably won't have any problems though.

There are a bunch of other places you can buy them, and I saw them openly advertised in motorhome/caravan magazines...

There isn't a lot Sky could do, except maybe tell them they can't use the words Sky TV in their advertising.

CAM modules for NDS are common and there are large numbers of people using 3rd party hardware to view Sky, whether it be using a Dreambox, various other STB's with NDS support, or a PC and card reader.
