Good to see some sort of innovation from Sky, was there any update on when the Android app will be released? :)

Pretty impressive on first glance, especially the ability to create a list of favourite channels.

The iPad real estate certainly helps to see all (favourite ) channels at once and over a large time frame.

No plans for an adroid app. I contacted them direct and had a moan and this was response....

Hello Matthew

Thank you for your email.

At this stage there are no plans for an Android app, however we are always reviewing such decisions and will keep our customers informed should this become available.

Please feel free to contact SKY Television Customer Services on 0800 759 759 for further information, alternatively please respond via return email and we will endeavour to reply within 24 hours.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Hmm - so this means that there's a full SKY EPG that's exposed for the connection of this application via the Internet. THAT might be quite useful if it could be accessed by other applications...

Sky TV has already demonstrated that they'll take legal action if you try it.

there seems to be unclear about Android.

There were indications there was an Android version in the making, now their CSR's are denying it.

Bonus: can finally view PRIME listings without loading the TVNZ site... You can use the app regardless whether you have SKY or not, just add all the freeview channels as favourites, voila, free app showing all the FTA channels.

Cheers,
Joseph

If you set something to record, via the app, how quickly does your MySky box take to get the message?

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Pretty much straight way, a few seconds.

Thats CSR 101, if you are not sure deny until told otherwise!

Seams silly to not build an app for the most popular Smartphone OS in the world... perhaps iOS has a larger penetration in NZ and they decided to focus on that one first.

I am sure they wanted to do both, but tight budgets and having to make a choice of one or the other. New financial year in a couple months so I will wait see.
