What about the fact that TVNZ is selling channels to Sky TV - making it almost compulsory in this country?

if sky offered a package for just sports for $20 a month they would go out of business.

Sports is the only real reason to get sky. They proceed to rip you off with the other channels you don't want.

$50 for base package and then $16 for sports and then more $ for HD which from memory you can't get unless you have the MySKY unit.

Yeah it's a total rip off.

But then there is no competition so they can charge what they want.

And technically you don't need it.

F1 coverage (for instance) is limited to highlights one week later on Prime. Unless some other channel steps up to purchase coverage or another pay TV provider comes along, we are stuck with the current situation.

Hmmm well no.

I use it a lot to watch sports, discovery, the mrs watches E!, i put the nipper in front of Nickelodeon Jnr when i want a breather! lol

I use the HD ticket too.

Where i have an issue is:

1.  The lack of competition doesnt keep their prices keen.

2.  We still havent got ESPN2-Id love this! NBA, NFL, EPL etc etc is all good!

3.  3D broadcasts like State of Origin arent purchased with the regular broadcast.  I wanna get my goggles on damn it and I cant wait for rugby world cup!

I pay plenty for my sky and i really would like sky NZ to push the boat out a bit further please.

The force is strong with this one!

I'd go with them, but you have to pay for so much stuff you don't ever use. Like, we'd just want the freeview channels, animal planet, docos, discovery, maybe a couple of the movie ones. Reddic...

Now we've dropped movies, I'm more than happy with my MySky subscription - the rest of the money's gone towards the HD ticket...
Being able to record my show easily via the iPhone / iPad app is nice too.
I recommend it personally.
