kitretter: thanks mate that was a huge help. has your n900 arrived at the shipito place yet? if so how much was your shipping to nz and did you put the full value on your declaration? i think i will coz i'd rather pay alittle tax than have my item lost and not be able to get a full credit. i've also got a debit cartd so that makes the process way easier.
No it has not yet arrived at Shipito as I only ordered it yesterday and it has not shipped from Amazon yet...I am waiting in the pre-order queue.
NZtechfreak received confirmation from Amazon that the N900 will be shipped to Amazon on the 8th, but he placed his order a couple weeks earlier so will be further up the queue...hopefully I will be not long after that.
As for shipping, Shipito will calculate that exactly once it receives the package, but you can use the shipping calculator found on the website...I am going to use FedEx 2-3 day delivery, which is quoted as costing about $28 US.
As for the declaration, how much tax you pay will depend on how much you declare ...
If you declare the full value, you will likely pay about $60 tax...
If you will to declare the N900 at a lower value, say $400, you will pay no tax...
The risk is if the device gets lost or broken, insurance will only cover the value you declared...
Also, customs may be wiser and know the real value of the item, and you will still end up paying tax.
Obviously as I am still waiting for the N900 to arrive from Amazon, I have not yet declared anything.
