its all there, but a quick recap, is that there is a Nokia engineer here who is working on the problem(s), and a fix should hopefully be out by the end of this month if not sooner.
The fix will probably be a software upgrade, which will require your handset to be sent away to MFR c/o your nearest Telecom dealer.
Hi, what I see when I look to see if it "is all there" is
1/ lots of frustration with the 6255 but very hard to see exactly what the faults are.
2/ Not one written word from Telecom admitting something is wrong but some liability being admitted by withdrawing the phone from sale. (???)
3/ Your efforts with rumours regarding a Nokia programm fix are commendable and the best thing available.
4/ The way forward....
You need to get some concrete facts from Telecom....

Several written words by Telecom, just not here. Telecom does not officially post to geekzone, they make press releases, and official internal documents to staff and strategic business partners. After acknowledging the turning-off fault, they then withdrew the unit from sale.

No rumours. You will find that many people posting on Geekzone work for Telecom, repair agents, dealers and other Telecom partners.

What concrete facts do I require? We came up with a list of problems, refined it, submitted to Telecom through various channels, and are hopefully having our list consulted by Telecom during the fix process.
I receive all telecom press releases and have not seen one word published about the 6255 problems. I do see all reference to it removed from the Telecom site. Considering that we are only seeing the tip of the Iceberg in these forums my point is something more substantial is needed.
Cheers,George
there has been multiple internal communications about it, and on accepting there was a problem, have pulled the unit from sale.
"Considering that we are only seeing the tip of the Iceberg in these forums my point is something more substantial is needed."
Tip of what iceberg? We have lots of very technical users here who are giving these bits of hardware a roadtest that Telecom probably never envisaged. Those results have been published on the other thread, and forwarded to people who matter.
What substantial things do you want? A full page herald ad from telecom acknowledging a fault with the phone, and big ups to everyone on geekzone for coming up with the list?
I do concede that Telecom should have communicated to existing users of the 6255 that problems are known (and being sorted), but other than that, all is good in the world, and a resolution to the problem is on its way.
GoodSync. Easily back up and sync your files with GoodSync. Simple and secure file backup and synchronisation software will ensure that your files are never lost (affiliate link).
Heard from MFR today that they are working all weekend upgrading software on all current 6255 stock. Hopefully this is correct and the phone will be available again next week some time......
No sorry nothing else. It was "unofficial" from someone who has to work and wasnt happy about not geting a weekend. Will have to wait for some offical communication from Telecom fingers crossed it will cover many of the issues discussed here.
oh you guys just sneeked off to another thread A!!
Wondered why I was feeling cold and lonely!!
Good news thanks! I look forward to being contacted. Wonder how many of the things they fixed.
Was just wondering, I never officially sent my letter away. I was relying on the contacts here which seemed better than some anonomous person in a big corporate. Do you think I should not worry or sent it officially anyway!
AND: will we get a list of the modifications or have to know what they have altered by trial and error??
Regards
P.S. Should have stuck to the other thread and made it the longest in Geekzone History!!!
