Hi

I'm having problems retrieving and sending email using my Nokia 6600. I have tried setting it up according to the .pdf guide found at vodafone.net.nz and still no luck.

It is an xtra email account I am trying to access. I have browsed these forums and can't find any up to date info. I have no problem with PXT/MMS.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

johnr is right... Xtra blocked POP3 access from external networks more than a year ago.

OK I thought that might be the case.

I recieve some emails via a pop3 server on the same network that hosts my domain name. Does this pop3 server need to be configured in a particular way for me to be able to access emails from my 6600?

I would like to setup a free mobilemail account but the registration section seems to be down.

Is there another way to check my GPRS internet settings? I'm embarresed to say but I haven't yet worked out how to browse the internet from my phone :/

If the pop3 ports are not blocked on the hosting service for your pop3 server all should be fine. For outgoing e-mail use smtp.vodafone.net.nz on your phone. I'll let johnr reply the browsing question...

Ok thanks. Once I get my USB dongle sorted I'll give that a try.

I too have an Xtra email account and have to forward my emails to my vodafone mobile mail account. Which is ok but Xtra seem to bypass their spam filter when forwarding, so all spam goes to vodafone and the VF spam filtering is pretty poor. (it doesn't seem to be catching any spam - perhaps this is because iall my mail is coming from Xtra server?
