I have a gift voucher for DSE. I need a new phone. Everything they have in stock is overpriced, outdated tish. What's up with that? Too much to ask for a Moto G or a Zenfone or something? P.S. trading a $400 DSE voucher for lump of coal.

If all else fails just buy $400 worth of itunes, xbox live, PSN, etc etc or mix and match. Heck even if you dont need them you could onsell them over trademe a lot easier than a dicksmith voucher of equal value.

They do have the s5 and iphone 5c(but about to be replaced) htc one, but looks like they only do 2 degrees these days. The prices don't look too bad.I remember it wasn't that long ago when they used to have the best range of phones.

Don't forget you're hardly bound by DSE's pricing. I have to agree though, just looking through their website, man their selection is really really average!

However, all you have to do is get a quote from elsewhere (Noel Leemings, HarveyNorman etc) on a business card, or even a print out from their website.
So long as the competing store has the stock on hand then DSE will match it. (This applies to local stores only, not online only deals etc.)

For instance, if you wanted to fork out an additional 200, while DSE have the XperiaZ for $849, you can pick up one from HarveyNorman for only $600.
While it is an older device, it's also fullHD, water resistant and has a fantastic camera.

Anyway, food for thought.

I don't recall DSE ever having much of a range of anything or much at reasonable prices, not since they stopped doing actual electronic components anyway. Waiting for the rebrand to Dick Smith TV Shop, it's been a long time coming. Agree with the above of try to haggle them down in price for something that you do like, especially at a store that's near a major competitor who is cheaper.

I was in DSE Hutt City a few days ago its range of stock across all product groups was abysmal. They have the distinct look of a store winding down to closure.

Yeah, I was in there about a month ago and thought the same - compared to earlier in the year their store looks only half stocked.
