So parents are off for a trip to USA and they want to use their phones while they are over there and have given me the task of finding sim card for them.
Dad has an iphone 4s from work and mum has a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3.
They will mostly be on the west coast but then will be in NYC for a bit.

Any frequent USA travellers able to advise the best network for them to go for with good data?

T-Mobile is probably the best deal with it's $2 and $3 deals.

The Galaxy Ace 3 will probably be a lost cause for roaming there as it doesn't support most of the bands used in the US - it'll be pretty much unusable except for where there is 850MHz 3G which is mainly on AT&T

AT&T do 850Mhz 3G so if you want to go with them, the phone will support it. Lots of US stuff is all 1700/2100 AWS or 1900Mhz for 3G and LTE, and that phone doesn't support any of those bands.

i struggled to get a good deal out of T-Mobile or AT&T last time I was there in Jan/Feb.  By the time I bought the SIM pack and paid the plan it was cheaper to just use the free wifi in shops plus the spark $10 roaming days when needed. if you're going for more than a week then a SIM+data option might be allright.
