Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any websites that I can visit, or books I can get, on how I can send text messages from my mobile phone to a database on the web ?

as far as I know I will need a service provider that will give me a telephone number that I can use to send texts to, who then stores these messages on their server. which I then have to somehow collect and place into my web based database (by using xml and mysql I guess).

Any help would be most appreciated, as I seem to have hit a brick wall here, all I can seem to find are (uk based) service providers who only send from web/pc to mobile.

Thanks

You could have the messages sent to an email address, then a script to read the emails, extract the neccesary information and insert it into the database. Would be far easier I would have thought.

There must be plenty of free php email scripts that will write the email to a mysql database.

I use Clickatell on Geekzone to send SMS from our system. One of the features they have is MO SMS, and you can configure the system to redirect the message from a mobile phone sent to your number into a URL (HTTP POST). On your server you can have a script (.asp or .php or whatever) that receives the post and write into the database. Works well, tried before.

And they're way cheaper then Vodafone...
