Hope I’m in the right Forum, please move me if not. My reliable old Nokia is 10 years old now and a dead battery is forcing me out of the dark ages, I’d appreciate some advice on its replacement.

I use a Vodafone “pay as you go” SIM so will stick with that. Apart from basic phone and TXT I want a decent camera, MP3 player, radio, & Bluetooth.

I’ve done a lot of looking and the Nokia 6500 and Nokia 5610 both look good. Not that I’ve seen a real one, Vodafone don’t sell these and told me – quote “go away and look somewhere else” – great customer service.

I’m not up on the niceties of mobile technology and the spec sheets leave me somewhat bewildered, so if anyone has an opinion of 6500 versus 5610, I’d be pleased to hear it, also 6500 Classic or Slide?

Both these phones are around $500 but the equivalent of $400 in Australia. I’m going to Aus for a holiday soon, will a phone bought there work here?

I had more or less the same issue few weeks ago, then I won a 6500 classic and it solved my problem :)

But my story was:
I wanted to replace my wife's Nokia 6288 (slider, 3G, Symbian S40) with a new phone.
After using a slider phone for two years, my wife decided that she needs a slim candybar phone. :)

I reduced my search for the 6500 classic and 5310 Music phone, both very slim and stylish.
At the and I found the 6500 classic better than the 5310 because:
-It works on 3G too, 5310 is only 2G
-Aluminium case makes it more durable.

Otherwise I found both very stylish and slim.
One negative with the 6500 classic is that it has no front camera for video calling, but we can live with that.

I know that the 5610 is a 3G with video call capability, but it's a slider so it fell out from my search range.
The perfect phone would be the 5310 or the 6500 classic slim candybar phone with 3G and video call functions, but Nokia didnt let us to have it all. :) So we had to compromise.

I is a kollege stoodent. Bee nice.
