Say I am going overseas, I pick up a local SIM there, it's not my NZ number.  I have data.  Will my NZ banking apps continue to work?  I don't need texting notifications etc... What about WeChat and WhatsApp?  Both of those required a (NZ) local SIM at the time to register for the service... Or would I need to get a temporary WeChat WhatsApp account on a different SIM number?

Google etc .. are ok, cos I have the 2 level authentication with the app etc...

Edit.  I know China have limitations but will be at other countries too :)

Cheers.

Cheers for that. Yeah .. google has the password number app so that's ok, ditto Microsoft.  Or their backup codes, printed and taken with me.  Do banking apps and WeChat, WhatsApp etc .. need to SMS to my original NZ number if they detect you are on a different SIM or country?  Then .. I will have issues accessing them unless I roam.

Shouldnt, they only send SMS/call the number for verification as your number is essentially your username. After that, as long as you have data, you're all good.
